IROCanSS' 1/8 scale IROC model build
Everyone on here has a build page for their 5th gen Camaro... and frankly, I don't have the funds to compete so I have never really felt the need to create one of these pages. I actually feel the story behind my 3rd gen IROC is more significant than just another bolt on 2010 SS/RS. That said, I will briefly touch on my two 1:1 scale Camaros. First being the 2010 2SS/RS I got in August 2009. It has your typical bolt on mods:
RotoFab cold air intake VMAX ported TB StainlessWorks 1-7/8" LT headers No cats DMH electric cutouts Flowmaster American Thunder cat back Custom dyno tune @ 415 rwhp and 410 rwtq Hurst short though shifter BMR suspension goodies (springs, sways, toe bars, trailing arms, bushings) MTi stainless steel brake lines Wilwood 570* brake fluid Clutch reservior relocate Slotted/drilled rotors and Hawk pads Red calipers I have done everything on the car myself with the exception of install the headers and tune the car. Everything else has been installed by yours truely. A pic is in my signature... Here is video of it running with the cutouts closed, then open. The second Camaro I own has a bit more history. Cliff's Notes: 1989 IROC, fixed roof L98 car. Ordered new in 1989, picked it up June 2, 1989. Currently has 88,000 miles and is bone stock with the exception of the Flowmaster cat back and K&N drop in filters. Here is a video of the two running: Now the 89 has a soft spot in my heart becasue I was 12 when we got it. My dad sold it when I was 14 and I hunted it down on the internet and boutght it back in 2008. Here is how the car sits today: ![]() ![]() ![]() I have done a small amount of restoration work on it... new steering wheel as the leather was shot and I refinished the wheels. Other then a new fuel tank and accessories, major cleaning and tune up, that is basically how I found it after 20 years. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Now, I have always been a scale model fan... I have a ton of diecast and plastic assembly kits that I have collected over the years. My two favorites being the full functioning 1/16 scale IROC with opening hood, trunk and doors (still in box) and the 1/8 scale that I recently began and will be tracked in this tread. Here are the kits, with a few others I have already built:

I don't have a ton of pics of it unassembled but i will get them tonight. The car is molded in black with red interior. Obviously it will be blue with black interior.
All I have done so far is detail the dash: ![]() ![]() Even has keys!! ![]() Not sure what to do with the round head key though??? ![]() I used flat black on the wheel to simulate the leather. I think it looks close! Also, detailed horn emblem: ![]() Here is a test fit... the tub still needs painted black: ![]() I also detailed the front wheels. Here is a finished and unfinished side by side... ![]() I think with the right back drop I could convince people these were real wheels: ![]() I also have the front suspension put together but no pics yet. If you are interested in scale models, stay tuned. I will update as I get stuff done. Thanks for looking! |

That's awesome. My dad use to have a white '90 IROC-Z. (part of the reason I wanted a white Camaro). I would like to buy another one just like it one day too.
Cool models.

Very cool! I like the story about your IROC. Now I know what you meant when you said you got it 'back' in 2008.

Put the round head key on the Key Chain and hang it from the square one?
Nice project! |

IROCanSS – That’s really cool! That’s a big IROC kit. Third-gens are cool and you’re looks like it’s in great shape.
We can see that you’re a Flowmaster guy. Are you going to put Flowmasters on your 1/8th scale kit? Keep up the great work.
