Immediate Help (Which Exhaust)
Hello Camaro family..... I am the owner of a brand new 2012 Camaro SS 45th Anniversary. I am so thankful to find this site. I am very excited to state my 45th Modification. I want to start with an Exhaust set up but I am so confused and need HELP!!! I think that I have narrowed my choice to the Magnaflow Cat-back system but there are so many listed on there and I have no way hearing each one to decide. I would like to know what do you are suggest. I want a deep sounding Magnaflow system with out it being to loud or quiet and no resonator sound. I live in Stone Mountain GA can anyone please tell me how to choose or what model do you all have. Her is the link that I am trying to choose from. http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...T&model=CAMARO

Save yourself some money and grief and buy headers first and leave the stock exhaust. ARH or Kooks both are top notch.
If you want a little more then add a cat back. You get power and sound in one packaged. |

Obviously you have a internet connection so you have access to hear all the different types of exhausts. Youtube is full of them. There's also a sticky with them in it as well. Searching will bring up TONS of info.

Borla Atak and Flowmaster Outlaw are the most aggressive and are most likey to scare someone nearby in my opinion.

if i were you..i would take out the mufflers and put piping and see how you like it..i love it and it was super cheap-considering it as a temporary modification

i started with a muffler delete. Do a search youll find a ton on it. Common price is 200 bucks and they alter your stock exhaust and give it a good sound. I was going to buy a Borla S type catback but im leaning more towards headers first to see how i like the sound with just the muffler delete. Get a CAI cold air intake youll love it!

I have the solo mach x, and love it. to me it sounded like some of the more expensive brands, but at a fraction of the cost. have had it for over a year and haven't regretted my decision yet

OP, you need to decide if you are going to add headers. If you are, it may change your mind as far which exhaust kit to buy. Magnaflow is a great brand. If you're looking to add headers in future, consider magnaflow 16483. If you aren't looking to add headers, they have a few "muffler delete" type kits that sound good. Also, do yourself a favor and go to Apex-speed.com and check out the Stainless Works Retro Chambered kit before you buy, Good luck!

Longtube headers will make your stock exhaust louder and not too loud. You would probably want a tune though with them. If a tune is not for you and you want to save a little money, I strongly recommend the Doug Thorley setup. There is absolutely no drone, nice deep sound at idle, sounds good general driving, and then when you get on it, it wakes up!! I have headers and no cats but it still sounds good without headers. Just search for clips on youtube. Make sure it is the V8 you are listening to. From Southwest Speed, it is $549 shipped. You cannot beat the price. Good luck with your choice!!

Just installed Kooks and Borla Stringer. In hind sight I should have tried the headers first approach and went from there. Runs out good but has tendency to resonate at lower/steady speeds. Also, Borla 304 SST versus 409 SST that can rust.

Stock Cat-Back with LT Headers actually sounds pretty good.....Go check youtube for sound clips there are quite a few people who have done that.
