Anyone else notice this? Dealer Camaros on Chevrolet.com...

Hi All

Haven't seen a thread on this yet, so I thought I would post on it.

I have been visiting the Chevrolet.com web site on-and-off for several weeks now and playing with the "Find A Vehicle" page. They have had the 2010 Camaro on there as an option since I have been going there. But it never has shown any vehicles after searching - not surprising since none have supposedly been delivered to dealers yet.

However I was on there earlier today playing around, and guess what? IT IS NOW SHOWING SEVERAL DEALER INVENTORY CARS! To be exact, it is showing 1 1SS and 14 2SS models - but no LS or LT's - at various dealers across the US. I just went back to the site and they are still there. I haven't looked in detail at all the VIN's yet, but most of them appeared to be in the 2500-2900 range.

So looks like either:

a) Some dealers used pre-orders to order cars for their dealerships...
or
b) All these dealers had order cancellations and went ahead and let them go through (hard to believe...)

ANYWAY, if you want to play around with it, go to www.Chevrolet.com and click on the "Find A Vehicle" link on the left had side. Go through and enter ZIP and distance (max of 100 mile radius...), select 2010 for year, Camaro as car (standard config..) and then select model (1LS, xLT, xSS) and it should bring up results.

One quick note that I have found. Even though it will only alow you to select a maximum radius of 100 miles, go ahead and select this and go all the way through. When you get to the results screen, go up into the URL address and change this to like 3000 or 4000 or so, and then press enter. This should get all results in the US and seems to work for me. You may also want to change the "maximumCount" parm to something like 300 - it defaults to 30.

Just thought I would share this. Post up any other tricks or tips you find on this site!!!

Yea, more of them are showing up there. I wonder if this has anything to do with the reflashing and panel issues we've heard about. Maybe as cars are re-released they will start showing back up there. If you check out http://camaro.spasticsquirrel.com all the ones with MSRP info are from chevrolet.com and the ones without are from gm.ca

Thanks for the information. I followed your instructions and located a 2SS IOM with VIN 103028 about 15 mile away from my home in Katy, TX. I then requested a test drive via email (which was offered) and have already received an email from the dealer acknowledging receipt of my request and giving me names of contacts and a promise to contact me.

Let's see what happens.

Thanks for reminding me of this... the First one on the list UCF put up for WA is finally in the dealer show room. I'm going after work today to go take a look at it.

Don't forget sold orders show up in the inventory.....And I would think that this means the cars have been invoiced to the dealer....

I emailed Jerry at Champion in Houston and he said it is not there yet. He's had tons of emails and phone calls about it and expects it soon, but don't go there expecting to see it on the lot now.

so I did this locally and found that Sunset Chevrolet in Sumner, WA has a stock Camaro that is available for purchase ?!?!?!?!

IT is already on the VIN listing and should be out for delivery soon, if it isnt enroute.. BUT the salesman told me they ordered this for stock ?????

I thought before March 16th all orders had to have a BUYER ??????

So what did they do to their REAL preorders?? I guess the bumped them..?!?!?!?

Thanks for posting this. In my area, some where between a week to 10 days there should be a Black one, automatic 2SS with RS package, coming to my area when I go I'll try to take pics and post them.

Here is the latest..........as of 11:00AM Central time. The dealer contacted me and as it turns out, the car is in transit and will be at the dealeship next week. This is the 1st of 30 pre-ordered cars to arrive. This is good news, at least the cars are moving again.

The dealer also told me that after the May 7th parade in Houston that he would get 2 of the parade cars (unknown specs at this time) and that they would go on sale on May 8th. They are selling at MSRP.
