DMV Weather PZero Tires

Hi--

New Camaro owner. Wondering how the Pirelli Pzero tires hold up during the relatively mild D.C., Maryland, Nova winter(s)? I've heard that handling on these tires becomes difficult when temps are low. Trying to decide if I should get rid of these and invest in some all season tires. Any feedback is appreciated.

Mine work fine, just use common sense while driving and you'll be fine. Once they are warmed up temperature doesn't pose much of a problem, but that doesn't mean go balls to the wall all day.

If you drive your car normally you'll be fine. I've had mine out in 20 degree temp and with over 725 rwhp I had no problems. Don't expect it to behave if you drive like an ass!! No need to worry or change them, you'll be good to go!

IMO they are not safe below about 40 degrees. Mine have broken loose on dry pavement several times in the cold weather. I don't drive my SS in the rain or snow but I just installed a set of all season tires to be safe.
Corine: What you have heard is correct.

I have driven in cold temps with these tires and they do not feel comfortable in cold temps they are Summer only tires meaning at temps above 40 or 50. Even if u drive normal they still feel weird even after 30 or 40 mins of driving in cold weather. Lucky for me i have an LS so the 18's all seasons go back on during this time till the spring.

Yea i got rid of my p zeros and got all season tires the p zeros for me slipped alot in the rain and were pretty horrible in the snow. If you have a lead foot they probably arent the tire you need. i got some toyo proxes all season tires and i love them i havent had any problems at all.

Why not keep the Pzeros and get a dedicated winter set. That's what I'm doing anyway.

I heard it can be costly getting your tires changed 2 a year. Do you know of a local place (DC/M/NOVA) that offers reasonable prices/packages?

Corine ive been going to Radial tire co in silver spring for almost 2 years now and i have to say they do the best work and have the best prices for tires around. It took me a long time to find them and you would not be disappointed their the best! plus i got my tires for 164$ each and they put them on for free.

I got rid of my p Zeros November 2010, as I found traction to be iffy when the temps got into the 30s.

I've driven rear wheel drive (25 years of that in Buffalo, NY) off and on, for almost 40 years. With the snow and temps we get in central VA, this car, with all seasons handles fine for me. I'm running Yokohama Parada Spec X.

I love my continental DWS, extreme contact all seasons. They do a great job in all weather.

When I said winter set, I mean like a second set of rims fitted with winter tires. Changing the two sets is as complicated as getting the lugnuts off, getting one set off and putting the other set on. Don't use two sets of rubber for one set of rims. I plan to use my RS rims with Bridgestone Blizzaks for the ice and snow and some TSW rims with the Pzeros for any weather above 40 degrees.

Hate my PZeros in the cold....like today and tomorrow I will be leaving my Camaro home and taking my pickup.

Just FYI for those who may or may not be aware.... Pirelli's warranty states that they will not cover damage to your tires if they are driven during periods where the ambient temperature is below 45 degrees. There is an increased risk of tire rupture/damage if you hit a road hazzard (pothole) while driving in cold weather. Obviously the tires feel much better when they warm up in the winter, but at the cost of these tires I really don't want to take too many chances if its well below that temp. I wish more companies would get on board and start making tires in our size. trying to save enough money for a set of those new General tires that Tire Rack is advertising.
