Use arctic-rated fluid...-40 or better. The deep discount stuff will often freeze in the jug, let alone @ the nozzle in windchill. It was -10 windchill here this AM (before moving)...washers worked...

Every vehicle I have ever driven in the winter suffers from the same problem no matter which design or routing the washer system has. Yes I use the cheap washer fluid, but I think the overall problem is, a drop of water gets in the end of the nozzle when turbulance has "sucked" the washer fluid out creating a void and freezes.

Do you not have winters in Detroit or are all the engineers in the tropics? 28 north of Pittsburgh. You know, there's just not a gas station on every corner to wash it at. The back wiper is out of the wind and sprays great though. Any thoughts on this Scott?
Dude, don't take me wrong, but............this post along with your title above your avatar stating 'tired of whiners' just comes off as being ironic as hell.

I drive mine through the winter and haven't had this issue. That's what I was trying to say.

I've had this issue too Jamie,on the '88 Corsica I had, that thing was terrible for the washer nozzles freezing up,I also considered it a major safety issue as well,I can't tell you how many times I would pull off the road on my way to work in morning just to try and clear the windshield off!
I don't have the issue now,as the Camaro is parked for the winter.....I don't drive my Silverado in the winter either, and even if I did it still has the heated washer fluid system (the system that should have been removed by the recall, but I refuse to let them take it!!!) the heated system eliminates any freezing issues.........my Saturn's washer system is great, the hose and nozzles are in the cowl,so I think it gets enough heat from the engine compartment to eliminate any freezing issue.

Malibu's spray nozzles are wiper mounted and we've never had a problem.

Wind chill numbers do not change the freezing point of liquids. You need the actual ambient temperature number for that.

Tell that to the fluid when you're marchin' down the highway @ 60 mph and it's 0, ambient, with a 15 mph wind besides...
