Camaro Nationals or GM Nationals?

I just got the info for the 2012 Camaro Nationals in the mail, and again this year it's on the same weekend as the GM Nationals at Carlisle.
I'm not sure which one I'll attend, but once again, why do they do this? Politics? Bad blood? Did anyone else decide?
Oh well............

I received my paperwork as well...not absolutely sure why they chose to leave Carlisle...but if you're intention is to attend a Camaro show, I'd lean towards the Md. show.

I like Carlisle and always enjoy going there in the Spring, Fall, and for the GM show, but seeing as Tom Henry, etc., will be in Md., that's the place to go for Camaro fans IMO.

A little of both, along with egos. Plenty of blame for both sides. There was a lot of discussion about all this last year. The Camaro Nationals was the original show at Carlisle and the GM Nats. evolved from that. Over the years the Carlisle (GM Nat) Kommandants wanted more and more control and leverage over the way the Camaro Nationals were run, leading to the split (this at least was the Camaro side). I went to Frederick last year and it was OK, but if you enter a Heartbeat class (show and shine), make sure you trailer it in. I'll likely pass on both this year.

Being one of the people that started the Camaros@Carlisle show in 1999. I like just a Camaro show. As we got a lot more cars there, they wanted to get into the act more, so they started the GM Nationals. I'll be at the Camaro Nationals.

I went to Carlisle last year, just like always, and had a great time as always.
I'll be going again this year.
One thing I noticed is they have split the Camaros off into a show-within-a-show like before and a new club is going to run that part called Camaro Nation Int.
I can't find anything about them except they have a facebook page.
I'm disappointed that the Camaro Nationals couldn't have been scheduled on another week. I would have gone to both.

I would never go to the Maryland show just out of spite. I think it's pretty ignorant of them to have it the same weekend at Carlisle. I'll be at Carlisle for sure. Maybe I'll be the only ZL1 there. I like the Carlisle show better because there is more to look at than just a sea of the same car.

As an outsider looking in...

I am a "GM" guy. I really enjoy seeing all of the other great performance cars from all the divisions, especially the other Chevrolet's. While I'm a Camaro die-hard, it's ridiculous to have both shows the same weekend. Honestly, if it's out of spite, it's hurting both of the shows. People like myself would go to both shows if they were different weekends -- this means more revenue and exposure for both!

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to pick only one, which means it's Carlisle for me (as it has been the past decade).

I like the Frederick location but the show is so.. Small compared to the GM Nationals with practically 4 or 5 vendors there total. I'm giving the Camaro Nationals another shot this year expecting growth of the show with more cars and vendors. if it's not then I'd probably leave and go to the GM nationals.

If you don't know the reasons for the split, don't make judgements.

I don't know how you see facts as judgements. Listen there has been many changes at Carlisle over the years that sucked. I've been going there for over 20 years and not just the GM shows, and I didn't "judge" anyone. If Carlisle did something to piss off these folks fine ,but don't use the same date to try and wreck Carlisle's event that has happened at the same time ever year for well over 20 years just to get back at them. Sorry just the way I see it. Besides Like I already said. I believe you get a lot more out of Carlisle unless you like staring at the same model of car all weekend long.

Folk, let's not turn this into a debate/argument over which show is better; what the reasons may be for the split; etc..

The reasons have been discussed already (when the change occured).

So let's stick to posting which show you'll be attending and leave it at that...please.

There wasn't a car show at Carlisle in June before the Camaros were there in 1999.
