Fuel/ Air Mixture/Check Engine Light/Mods

I posted this in the Engine mods section but it's probably better off here.

Last week I installed and Airaid intake and today I installed a Solo Axel back with J pipes. Shortly after the exhaust install, my check engine light came on. Onstar said my vehicle is running lean (Fuel/Air) based on the codes. I contacted Solo and asked if this was something they have come across with their system. I was told they have not encountered this issue and perhaps there was an exhaust leak.

I took it back to the exhaust shop and had them check. There is no leak. Onstar said based on the modifications, the computer may reset itself in a few days/miles after it adjusts to the increased airflow.

Has anyone encountered anything like this? I'm hoping the ship rights itself as I don't want to go to the dealer or have to troubleshoot this issue with the vendors. Thanks,

-Nick

You most likely have a vacuum leak on the intake system after the MAF.

i too just got a CEL, i installed Kooks LTs and HFCs about a week ago, no CEL drove a few hundred miles probably since the install. Put on my CAI intake and scoop yesterday and driving around today i got a CEL, not sure if it is from the headers or a leak, after reading this i need to go check my intake again to see if there is a leak

What Steck said. Most likely there's a leak in the intake somewhere past the MAF letting unmetered air in.

It was the intake. The hose clamp attached to the throttle body was loose. CEL reset itself after about 70 miles and light is gone......thankfully. Runs and sounds great! I'm always impressed at the knowledge on this board. It is the best resource out there for these cars. I appreciate the tuners and vendors chiming in with their input. Thanks!

Well I double checked the installation of my CAI and re-adjusted and tightened everything...
then i found my LM2 WBO2 and scanner it was a p0420 which is a cat efficency code, so it is probably from the LTs and not being tuned, I cleared the code we will see if it comes back, i guess it was just coincidence that it poped up right after doing the CAI install
