is the so called quality check over yet, the 800 number tells me all the 2010 camaros go through a three to four week quality check!! not some all if that is the case why am I watching dealers mark up cars with a higher vin than mine? just bored and want to know what others are thinking.

quality check???

I agree with the other post, I have ordered many cars and this quality check stuff is bull.
All pre-ordered pricing is locked to that price, NO EXTRAS

5 weeks of production and some cars with vins in the 2000 area are being driven by the buyers. I think the 800 number is WROOOONG again.

Listen, I think it's obvious there were problems with the first cars that rolled off the assembly line. I'm 847 and my car like many others was manufactured weeks ago. i don't think you'll get a straight answer right now, especially with all of the other concerns GM has right now. Having said this, I'm certain that we will all be receiving our cars in the next few weeks.

The first few are bound to have a few glitches in them.. and as they find the problem they fix it on the line.. so once they got all the problems worked out on the line they went back over the first 2000? cars. I dont know but this sounds probable

+1
I work for an aero technology company, in particular, new product developement, a lot of your initial issues with a new release is:
a)new product = little knowledge of how to put it together, no matter how well you write the instructions, someone always messes up something.
b) supplier/parts quality issues. Your suppliers will have the same problems, they have to work thier kinks out too.
c) new equipment/old equipment = calibration issues, fitment issues, etc.

I'm thinking the first couple hundred cars built aren't going to be perfect, but the operators and plant personel will learn what to do and what not to do.

It's 6 weeks later and the first cars off the line still haven't been shipped in the name of a "quality check". They are spoon feeding us bullshit and unfortunately most of us are eating it all up.

What I guess bothers me about this is that they made what hundreds of cars or more
before production and they didn't know about the issues? I mean that is what all those test cars are for aren't they? I feel for you guys that had your car built several weeks ago. I know shit happens, but it doesn't make it any easier.

Yeah, we can get an official statement on the brake weights which still baffles my mind that they are having to do this on the early builds. Is that the first year, first 5000? WHAT? How long have they been making Brembos? I'm in no way putting fault on the brake company. But aren't endurance and longevity along with other testings part of this that should have found that issue?

Give us a statement on the early VINs. And I don't want to hear about how they have bigger issues right now. BS. The team on this car aren't involved with saving GM, except in the quality of the car produced.

I look forward to 30 years from now when one of these early cars rolls across the block at some auction and they say "See here, these weights are special to the first #### cars."

I've typed the answer so many times on so many sites that I've simply gone to another post that I responded to on this site --

Here is my response to someone:

I understand your frustration.

We DO understand that happy customers are repeat customers -- that's EXACTLY why we're taking our time to get these new Camaros right.

I do have a couple of questions for you:

>How many Camaros was your dealer allocated?
>What number are you within that allocation.

It's important to find this out -- because, for example, the dealer MAY have had 10 allocations -- and if you were the 10th order, you will be waiting a bit longer than the person who was number 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5.........

We had almost 15,000 'pre-orders' -- there is no way that everyone can have theirs first -- simply do the math...........

While I understand your frustration and anger, please also understand that because we actually shared when we actually started production, it now allows you to see the delays -- delays that happen with EVERY manufacturer as they start a new vehicle build. As someone mentioned in this thread earlier -- Corvettes have always had the same delay - the difference is that we kept "start of production" secret -- perhaps that's what we should have done with Camaro -- because, according to some, we'd have had 'happier' customers.........

Years ago, we'd have shipped the cars and said "well.......we'll let the customer bring it back for repair -- and that is EXACTLY the wrong thing to do........"

We're trying our darnest to do the best job possible...........

By the way -- when you order a 'foreign' car -- they are, for the most part, not built "for" you - rather, your order is matched to a car either in the port -- or coming into the port. That's also why there are very few build combinations for a lot of foreign cars.

NOW -- to those in this thread --

-- what do you want us to do -- do you want the cars right -- or do you want us to ship you something that isn't right?

What's happening NOW happens to ALL manufacturers -- AGAIN -- I will state: this is what happens when we SHARE information with you.

I don't mean to sound like I'm flaming anyone -- but we are doing this to ensure you have the best Camaros possible...........
