^^ Pretty much.

If you want to stay 100% within warranty you can really only do cosmetic mods and probably no performance mods. They will find a way to void you warranty with any performance mod you do probably.

it depends on where you go to get serviced but most dealers dont really care about the basic cold air intakes and exhaust since that only helps the car

subject has been beaten to death... use the search here and on google... Learn and know your RIGHTS.

The short answer is the dealership can't void your entire warranty. They can deny your warranty claim if they can show that your modification caused the problem....

Well, considering Blade got his motor rebuilt under warranty and he is extensively modded...

GM is going to say what they are going to say to protect themselves. Any dealer who voids your warranty because you put a CAI on or an exhaust or even headers is a dealer you should steer clear of. Chances are they are already screwing you or already have screwed you.

I understand that GM will not cover my CAI Inc. intake, Stainless Works long tube headers or ARK DT-S catback because they did not manufacture them. I replaced them for a reason. I was dissatisfied with them so them voiding out my intake and exhaust isn't a big deal. I had all these mods plus the VMAX TB and a tune and my dealer still replaced my blown motor.

They also know that my car is lowered and has LED's underneath. I suppose they could void out all of my electric because of that but they haven't. In fact they hooked it all back up for me when they replaced my motor under warranty. They could have opted to NOT do that. They've also fixed my seat heaters cuz they were faulty. They didn't blame it on the LEDs. I certainly appreciated them doing so and will certainly be more apt to use them in the future for any Chevy brand purchases I make.

It just isn't that cut and dried OP unless your dealer has the "Step over a dollar to make a dime" mentality.

yeah, there are some dealerships that will allow you to keep your warranty, as long as you buy the parts from them and/or you let them install them.

You guys really need to LEARN YOUR RIGHTS! Do NOT let a dealership bully you around!

PLEASE READ:

http://www.sema.org/sema-enews/2011/...ermarket-parts

specifically:

"The alert notes that a consumer has the right to patronize independent retail stores and repair shops for parts and service without fear of voiding the new car warranty. The dealer/vehicle manufacturer has the right to deny a warranty repair but they must demonstrate that the aftermarket part caused the problem. The warranty remains in effect for all other covered parts."

Listen to Scrming, he knows his stuff. If you buy a CIA and it stops working, don't go into the dealership and say, can i have a new injen CAI, it stopped working. But if you put on new mufflers and your coolant tank explodes, they well fix it and won't say it's due to your new mufflers. It's pretty simple.
