2010 Buick Regal Turbo

Quote:
Buick sells more vehicles in China than it does in the U.S. That’s why the brand isn’t on the chopping block as General Motors looks to restructure in the face of the U.S. automaker bailout. That’s also why the Regal is still sold in China, but not here at home. In late 2008, Buick introduced a new Regal based on a global midsize vehicle architecture. In Shanghai, Buick showed a new model with a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. This direct-injected 4-cylinder generates 220 horsepower and can accelerate to 60 mph in 7.8 seconds. GM also offers the Regal with 2.0- and 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engines, and all are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

The Grand National is one of my favorite all time cars. While I like that new Buick, I'd hate to see that name stuck on a car that has absolutely no styling similarities whatsoever.

I think it would probably sell like the GTO. No doubt in my mind it would probably perform well, but again that wasn't the problem with the GTO either. People were expecting a GTO and got a Sunbird/Grandprix...thingie. In other words, if you are going to make a play on people's nostalgia, you have to give them something to be nostalgic about.

It's called Limited Production, Black is the only color, flat black package special rims, grille blackout, etc. It wasn't like the GN was a major departure styling wise from the stock Regal in the 80s. IMO that'd be more in line with the nostalgia thing. Looks like a Regal..but isn't a Regal.

It's Darth Vader's Car.

"to 60 mph in 7.8 seconds" is kinda lame these days...

Oh I know I'm not disputing that. Its just this Regal has nothing that comes close to resembling the Regals of the mid to late '80s.

If they would ever put a Regal out with plans of doing a GN, I'd rather them restyle from the ground up like they did with the Camaro and add some retro styling but give it a modern look.

But yes, I know what a GN is. I used to own one.

EDIT: Yes though, it is a car fit for a Sith Lord.
