Purchasing From Forum Sponsors (from USA) into Canada

Just wondering which companies you guys have purchased from off this forum. I am looking at order some items up, but of course the whole brokerage junk and all that we all know about will pop up. Just looking at suggestions from others on here (in Canada) that have dealt with this in the past and which sponsors you have purchased from.

I am also looking into using a border shipping service to take advantage of the free shipping within the states that most of the sponsors have, then using a company to represent the item for me across the border then reship. Have any of you used this type of setup for automotive parts?

1; If you tell them that you will take care of the brokerage you'll not pay for any just the taxes. I had received a package at home & they wanted $ for the brokerage fee. I asked if there is another way & he said to go the UPS to pick it up yourself. They will give you a paper & you go to the customs office to pay the taxes & then back to UPS to get your parcel.

2: Depending were you are...I have an account in the states(border) where I pick up my stuff and then pay taxes on it depending on the custom agent & how much. FREEPORT FORWARDING.

Good Luck

I am looking at ordering a Flowmaster AMT catback (V8, ground effects model) for sure and possibly a shifter (Hurst?) but definitely the catback. Looking to order in the next week or so.

I didn't know you could do that brokerage stuff yourself, I thought it had to be done at time of crossing, will check into that for sure.

That Freeport Forwarding, my buddy has the same sort of setup where he purchases stuff in the states that they will not ship up to Canada, goes to a company that recieves it, then re-ships it up via Purolator, something to that extent.

I know I am going to be hit with taxes and some sort of brokerage. I have been hammered by FedEx and UPS in the past with assinine fees for brokerage, to the point it was almost cheaper to just buy it locally.

The catbacks are showing around $800 or so from the sponsor's sites, here locally I got a quote for $2200 installed, total BS.

Does anyone know if USPS ships items as large as a catback or are they more of a smaller parcel type shipping setup?

I have shipped USPS up and the fees are a fraction of that of FedEx or UPS.

I order tons of stuff from the states and always insist on USPS. 90% of the time they deliver it and dont ask for any tax or fees. With ups or fedex you get hit every time.

How far are you from the border? I had my cat back shipped to the UPS store in Niagara Falls NY, picked it up myself and brought it back into Canada. Shipping was free, paid the UPS store $10 plus I paid Canadian Customs 13% GST on the value of the item. Saved me over $300 if I had of bought it from a Canadian distributor.

Yeah definitely going to ship it USPS if I have the option, it's almost a dealbreaker for me if they don't and I will think twice about even ordering it if they only ship UPS or FedEx or even some of the other ones. Only shipper I haven't been hammered with fees was USPS.

I am several hours so it's not overally realistic for me to consider this but will check to see what is close to me, thanks for the info.

I have purchased a few things, used USPS and have been lucky each time. I never thought about shipping to Niagara Falls NY and then picking up. I'm only about 45im so for bigger items I'll look into that.
