Ok. I just got off of the phone with my dealer which is a good friend. So I will start from the the beginning.
I was curious about me and my dad's ordered Camaros. My dad's SS/RS and my 2LT/RS. They do not have any constraints. My car has been at 3000 event status since March 23rd, and my dad's 3 weeks afterward. Now we are both at 3400 event status. Why no build? Ok....here goes the story as to why GM isn't doing very well. Sit back, relax as there is nothing any of us can do, drink your cup of coffee and just chill. The people who should really be getting pissed off here are the dealerships. I had called the 1-800 number and all they did was ask for my name. No order number, and came back with I have no build order date yet. The gentlemen was very nice. But, I thought it was odd that he didn't even ask for my order number. I kinda just thought I was getting the brush off. So my dad said to me that we should just call our dealer. He said he was curious too as to whats going on with our cars. He knew what the dates were for our area with the rails. So he called the number himself, got through for the dealer section. The gentlemen that my dealer talked to(while we were listening on speakerphone) said that our cars don't have a build date yet and are still sitting at 3400 event status with no TPW. My dealer asked why that is as he had knowledge of other people ordering after us and getting their cars. The gentlemen from the 1-800 number said that they don't take any of these orders in order. My dealer interrupted and asked, "if they were taking them randomly?" The gentlemen said yes. They are in no specific order when they take these cars into production. Now, of course this pissed off our dealer as this completely means we have had our money tied up into a camaro waiting on a list for absolutely no reason. As my dealer knows that usually this process after going to a 3000 event status usually means 6 weeks to them. We had everything the way we wanted it. But, now there are problems. First off, I have a 2006 Chevy Cobalt, 4 door Sedan. I told my dealer to just round off my Mileage to 60,000. I was told my car is worth $6,000. Which after looking online I'm getting a little more than whats it's worth. But, as I keep driving my car I keep losing the value. I'm sure that there are more people out there with a similar problem as me. Here is the complete end result. You ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT get mad at your dealer or dealership, as this has nothing to do with them. It has everything to do with GM. I'm assuming at this time that this is why we don't see the spreadsheets updating anymore with VIN numbers and where they are going. But that is just an assumption. It is up to the dealerships to start getting pissed at GM for this as this is their jobs at stake. They make money off of cars that they sell. No camaro, no money. This is part of the organization skills that GM has. It makes me feel bad for any dealership that has packed up and left. but, as we all know it isn't just GM that has this problem of course. We also know that it isn't everyday that a car is released from 8 years ago like the Camaro. Now so you all know and understand a little more about me and my family. We have been and will always be Chevy enthusiasts. My mom has a Corvette right now and soon me and my dad 2 new 2010 Camaros. We have always only ever had Chevy vehicles. We have never ever had a major problem with any vehicle from GM. If anything then it was some thing very minor. I'm a little upset about what I over heard. But, I am also a very patient person. I WILL wait for my Camaro. Those who have patients always come out just fine. But, mainly I hope the dealers that come here have an understanding at what is really going on with their sold cars and why it is taking so long. I'm sorry that this post was so long. But, I knew I had to get this information out. |

Nothing we didn't allready know. It sucks but the vast majority of cars are bought off of the lot. Not enough cars custom ordered to justify a big system to do it. jmo
This is kind of a rare situation. And nothing that hasn't been dealt with before. Most cars are allready being produced before many people know about them. |

Well stated. GM is not communicating with the dealerships as they should be.

Well, MegaZero, irpq11 is right. We know that production guide number, concensus and allocation mean when an order was entered into Workbench has little to do with when it's pulled for production. And now the current build and delivery delays are due to production issues, i.e.- window indexing problem, lack of steering pumps, now possible shortage of RS Package items. We're finding these things out, but granted the dealers don't seem to be being informed by GM. Possibly they don't think any of these problems are adding a significant enough delay to warrant reporting.

Just think back to all the times you got really pissed off and upset about something. Did it do any good? Probably not. Hope mine comes before summers end so I can enjoy it in nice weather for awhile. Even if it's at 3000

Yeah, nothing we didn't really already know. Regardless, I am never taking part in a GM "early-order" launch ever again. What a bunch or horseshit.

Its not a GM early order issue.... ITS ANY EARLY CAR ISSUE..... With all of the early order cars my family has purchased it has been the same problems. Doesnt matter the brand.....its part of being in the early order line.
