Build question (for Scotty, or another decent dealer)...

Last week, dealer told me that GM would be picking up my 2SS/RS order this week. Today, I'm told that "build will start May 7". I asked what code was my order at.... the sales manager said he didn't know, and that the only thing I needed to know was that the build date is May 7. Can anyone with access p-l-e-a-s-e look my order up - NJCBZJ - and see what number I'm at? Thanks in advance....

Dealers should not be checking the status of other dealer orders. Orders between dealers and the factory are confidential.

MJ...I was at Galleria saturday and they told me they had 2 cars picked up to be built. They should be able to give you your status code. Go in and have them check it right in front of you. When I ordered my CTS there, my salesman ran the order update and showed it to me in black and white, build date and everything.

But Scotty, so many of our dealers are Idi***. If it was not for you and others in the know we would be dead in the water. I can agree with the standpoint that perhaps the dealer name should not be posted but my God man....In these times with the status of dealers being so uncertain and when they tell us something we know is a direct out and out lie.....What else can we do to calm our nerves. I can only imagine how you all are feeling as well so until the dust settles a little cant we all just get along? We all want the same end result and we all want the best for each other. There is no malice or sniping going on. Anyway that is my 2 cents.

I second the notion....I called my dealer today and he didn't even know what an event code was until I explained it to him. So once I started explaining the number sequence he gave me a number (3000) that would satisfy anyones cravings for info. So i thought it was just a number to keep me quiet, so I told him i wanted to see it on the computer or on a print out and I was on my way up there. He called me back and wanted to fax me a copy of the print out to "save me a trip" but i said hell no, I'll be up there shortly. To my suprise he wasn't lying and showed me my event code matching my order number. I was satisfied for the moment but I should haven't to go thru all those hops just to get basic info that the dealer should have ready to give at the customer's request. Oh I forgot to mention that my original sales person was fired and no felt the need to call and tell me anything. Lucky for me I had a secondary person that I met the day I met my original sales person. And I kept all documentation that was provide by the dealer with regards to pricing, specs, etc...

Sorry to say, but if you're @ 1100, your build week is definitely not 5/7. You'd have to be at 3300 or 3400 to see a build week that soon.

Yay for dealers who lie and spread mis-information!!

This is why so many people are asking if other dealers can look up their info.

If your sales manager doesn't know, then speak to he inventory manager unless he holds both job titles. If he's both and he's still clueless you should talk to the General Manager or another sales guy.

Agreed. It's to early @ 1100. I had a similiar problem with an old pre-order i had at another dealership. This guy refused to keep me updated and kept saying my car would be here on the first week of MAY and I was still @ 1100 status last week. So I cancelled them and went somewhere else. Luckily, I got a good spot at the new dealership.

I would agree with Scott on this one. The other dealers on here should not be looking up status for other orders at different dealers. I have been asked this a few times and unfortunately had to tell them to contact their dealer or call 800-222-10120 to track their order. If the call center does not know about your order number then it is still in the preliminary stages of the order.
