NEW MEXICO/EL PASO MEET - Ruidoso, NM March 24th, 25th - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

As you may know it has been talk for some time now to try and get and Albuquerque/Las Cruces meet together. The time has come to make that happen.

The plan is to have a nice relaxing vacation in Ruidoso, NM on Saturday March 24th.

Not only will this be a weekend to unite some of us Camaro brothers and sister that don't normally get to meet up, but it also is a going away party for Vince (PIANOMN), who currently serves our country in the United States Air Force and will be leaving in April for a 15 month remote assignment in Turkey.

The Albuquerque group will be meeting up at 9am at the Hotel Albuquerque (800 Rio Grande Blvd NW). We have met up there for several events before. It is more toward the center of town, with two gas stations nearby and right by the freeway. Plan to be fueled up and hitting the road by 9:45am.

From there we can get on I-40 and take I-25 down south to San Antonio/U.S. 380 E exit 139 to have lunch at the Owl Bar & Cafe around 11am. (77 Us Highway 380, San Antonio, NM 87832). A few of the Las Cruces group will meet us there for lunch.

After lunch we will get back on 380 and head East toward Carrizozo where we will meet up with Vince. The Valley of Fires is about 4 miles before we get to Carrizozo where we can stop for a short photo op.

From Carrizozo it only about 33 miles to Ruidoso. We will head East on 380 for about 8 miles before making a Right on NM-37 traveling about another 15 miles before making another Right on NM-48 for the final miles into Ruidoso.

There are currently two hotels we are staying at in Ruidoso. The majority of the group is staying at Shadow Mountain Lodge that is closer to all the shops and tourist part of Ruidoso. There is a group that is staying at the Holiday Inn Express which is on the side of town that is closer to fast food areas.

It should be a fun trip, and I hope we can get as many people to join us not only from the ABQ/RR and LC/EP groups but from other places in NM.

Get your rooms reserved ASAP so we can all hang out together for the night. Looks like there is a great area for some BBQ action.

Yea, I plan to bring my fair share of my new favorite beer (bud light platinum). Was hoping we could do a BBQ together so I don't know if there is a store close by to buy some steaks/ chicken/ burgers/ etc?

I'll be meeting you cats up in your neck of the woods. I've never taken the drive from San Antonio to Carizozo before, and I love cruises.

Is there anything that's going to be going on during the trek to Ruidoso? I was thinking how cool it be to meet up at the Owl Cafe for a lunch and designated meeting spot for some of us coming from down south or the surrounding areas. Then drive to Ruidoso and maybe find a designated lookout spot for pictures between, by the time that we arrived to Ruidoso and check in it be time for dinnner or BBQ. I don't mean to step on anybody's toes if plans have been already made, it was just a thought that came to mind ...and also cause I've never eaten at the Owl Cafe and am selfish about taking the opportunity to eat there he-he. Are we going to be doing a White Sands photoshoot on Sunday when we leave?
