MOVING TO N CAROLINA!!!!
sO I LIVE IN MIAMI NOW AND AM PLANNING TO MOVE TO WILMINGTON NC. I HAVE A FEW CONCERNS... MY TAILIGHTS AND SIDE MARKERS ARE PAINTED BLACK W CLEAR COAT. THEY ARE VERY DARK TINTED. DO I HAVE TO HAVE MY CAR INSPECTED FOR THINGS LIKE THIS IN ORDER TO GET A TAG IN NC??? IF I DO IS THERE ANY WAYS AROUND IT ?!PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!

I live in Charlotte, NC and just got my windows tinted and ordered a very dark black out kit for taillights and side markers/reverse lights. They are strict on window tinting, but you will be fine regarding the tail lights.

yayyyyy i have 20% tints i think thats legal...what about smog control do they have that for exhaust

when registering in NC, an initial inspection is not required. It's not until you renew your tags that it needs to be inspected.

just move to south carolina. no inspection at all and legal tint is 27% but ive seen people with 5 over 5 with out getting in trouble. cops arent as bad here either. i hate going to nc because of cops.

ill find you one. i know some people in that area that drive with no cats, illegal hid's, illegal tint and all sorts of stuff. ill pm you the name of the place and location.

NC legal tint is 35% as stated above. If close to the limits, most inspectors will put a meter to it to check legality. Cops have become increasingly stricter as far as window tint goes. The dark lights I wouldn't worry too much about as long as you can tell they are on while out in the daylight. NC does not do a sniffer test, but they do a standard OBD2 plug in test. Also a visual inspection requiring Cats and what resembles a "muffler." Some inspection stations interpret the laws differently then others.
