RAP does not work correctly with Metra-Kit

i have installed a kenwood ddin-radio with the metra kit about a year ago.

when i turn off the ignition the radio stays on like it should, but after about 20 sec the radio shuts off with a loud cracking noise from the speakers.

the same happens if i take out the key immidiately. as far as i know, the radio should shut off immediately after taking the key out of the lock and not stay on.

if working correctly, the radio should stay on for 10min if you do not open the door or take the key out of the lock.

i think this problem exists from the beginning but i never realized it.

does anyone have an idea why this happens?

I do not know about the loud cracking noise when it shuts off. The radio staying after will stay on ofter the key is removed is a normal for the Camaro. The radio will stay on for 8 mins after the key is removed or when the drive side door is opened.

the cracking noise souns like you need to get rid of the 6v floating ground that is in the head unit when you get a new amp. If you did get a new amp get a ground loop isolator. Did you get a new amp?

caddyroger is correct about how the radio should stay on. If your opening the driver side it will turn off immediately.

note some amps are ok with the voltage coming from head unit so you may not need it. I originally got ********s kit to add subwoofers to my stock radio kit and i knew right away i needed it because of the cracking noise. So just go buy one that day and keep the receipt. you may not need it.

Where to you put it coming off the head unit or just before the amp, or does it matter
