I want to do the same but maybe with a red or grey pin stripe depending on the color stripes I get but any how it could be about 150 a wheel

It's worth it if you like it. Above price is about right, plus shipping if you're not local. Just be careful not to curb them since you will have to get powdercoat redone if you want to fix it. I personally think black wheels on IOM would look sick.

Yes it can be done, prices will vary depending on location. I used to powder coat, and the local rate around here is about $65 a rim (last year).

You have to take off ALL rubber, nylon, plastic, etc that needs to be reused.

I paint and do body work......A good paint guy can make them look great and not cheap looking, plus easier to fix if there is a curb or whatever incident. I would bet cheaper than powdercoat too ! Powdercoat also seems to let loose after some years/ tire changes and can look thick. JMO

Do a search on-line for powder coating shops in your area. Then call them and ask for a price. As 1Mullet says, paint is probably OK too. Depends on the look you want. Powder coating is thicker and more durable. Haven't heard of powder coating peeling off.

Does anybody know what it would cost to have the wheels chromed? What woudl be involved in chroming the factory midnight finish wheels anyway, would they need bead blasted or dipped in something to get rid of that finish?

If you chrome the rims, the place that does it would go through their normal process for chroming anything. The rims have to be stripped down to the bare metal to get a good quality finish, and then from there it's usually a proprietary process.

Quoted anywhere from $100 per wheel to $1050 for all....yikes

Several shops also do a wheel exchange (they send you chromed OEM wheels, you send yours in exchange). The net cost is around $1000.

I tried PS to see the before/after of midnight silvers going to hyper black...its close but no cigar.

I am still on the fence for the hyper black on IBM, so I would be interested in seeing real pics.
