If you don't want to move up to the V8 Brembos a good place to start would be an OEM replacement rotor and an upgraded street pad. We like the Hawk HPS pads for a street and very occasional track pad for it's increase in stopping power and relatively good street manners. Given proper bed in procedures with a new rotor they should be a great street setup for you!

Thanks Pfadt, what do you think about slotted rotors?

Pfadt- on this subject do you think the the bias would be all f#@ked up if I went Brembos up front and left the stock V6 caliper in back? steel lines, slotted rotors, and good pads all around.
thanks for your input.

For a street car slotted are going to work just fine. For a track car slots can work as well, but try and make sure that during construction of the rotors the slots are cast into the rotor rather than machined in after. Post casting machine work has a potential of weakening material and causing cracking.

Unless it's a show or car avoid drilled rotors... absolutely avoid drilled rotors if you ever plan on tracking the car.

Probably not a huge deal. The CTS-V fronts we run with the V8 Rears represent a relatively large change in the front brakes only and that setup runs great. A V8 front only upgrade on a V6 isn't something we've experimented with, but I wouldn't imagine there would be a huge problem with it, especially for a street car.

Sounds good, I was only planning on slotted (at the most). NO DRILLING. Are there any brands you reccomend? sponsors or not, you can message me if you like.
