Searching Pacific Northwest dealer inventories?
Been tossing around the idea of a 2SS vert for awhile now, and yesterday I made it to our local dealer for some test driving that sold me on the car, but not so much on the local dealer. His only manual 2SS vert in stock is a 2011 Synergy that he's got priced about $6k above what I wanted to spend, and then he offered me $5k below KBB/NADA on my trade. He wouldn't budge off MSRP for anything he didn't have in stock, and wanted to add $1400 on to that in order to dealer trade for an ashen grey (my preferred color) some 1500 miles away. I have no problem making a salesman's day, but I don't really want to make his whole freaking month. So...is there a way to go about looking for who has what in stock, preferably in the northwest, but I'm open to stretching that a bit for the right car & price. Worst case scenario, I'd find the dealer 1500 miles away and buy his car without the $1400 transportation fee and just break the engine in driving it back here. Better case, I'd find a reputable dealer in Washington/Oregon/Idaho who has that color (alternately silver, blue, or black) and who doesn't mind spreading his monthly profits over several cars instead of just one. I keep googling "Seattle Chevrolet", "Portland Chevrolet", "Boise Chevrolet", etc, but I figure there ought to be a more efficient way.

Try Jet Chevrolet in Federal Way. I am getting my ZL1 from them at MSRP. They has a pretty good selection on the website.

Thanks, I only saw LTs on Jet Chevrolet's web page, but I submitted a request for more info anyhow, asking about what other stock they might have coming in soon. I got an automated response that day (Monday), but nothing since.

Sounds like you need to find a dealer who is a bit more aggressive in wanting to sell you a car.
I found a 2011 2SS vert I liked one state over (in Indiana) that has a sticker of $44,739. I told them I wanted to walk out the door with a 2011 at no more than $39,900. They offered the other dealer some sort of trade (vehicles and checks) that is getting me the vert for $41k, minus the $1500 private offer I was mailed earlier in the month, which brought the price down to what I wanted to pay. Granted we've bought another 2 vehicles from this dealer in the past 2 years and have always had a really close relationship with the owner, manager, and sales team. It just sounds like you need to find a dealer who wants your money a bit more than the original one. |

Agreed. I found another dealer whose prices better reflect a desire to sell cars, and who has my second choice on color (silver), but they want a $500 deposit to work up a ballpark estimate on my trade. Google turns up too many horror stories of folks who got low-balled and then couldn't get their deposit back, so I declined to pay it. I told him he could work up an estimate without the deposit for a possible deal this weekend, or I could drive over at my leisure in a few weeks (month end being next week) hoping whatever salesman greets me can find the right car in stock. Basically, I'm not going to put more than a tank of gas at risk without some indication of a probable deal. The ball's in his court at this point.
Anyone know how dealers search for cars on other lots? I know the local guys were able to identify an ashen grey 2SS/RS vert 1500ish miles away in a matter of minutes. I sure would like to access to that database. |

Try Haselwood
Try Haselwood Chevrolet, we have worked with them for several years and their sales department will work with you, ask for Patrick (360) 479-4910. They have several verts on the lot right now. Before you buy check out the vert issues forum. GM is buying back my 2011 2SS/RS Vert for top issues, but I love the car so I am going back into a 2012 45th 2SS Vert. Hope this helps. John
