Who hits the Redline?

Do you drive it like you stole it? How many times or have you ever redlined your engine?

Might be a stupid question but are we even able to hit red line? Isn't the limiter there to stop us.

No the limiter kicks in once you pass red line.

My motor has seen 7200 several times, according to the data logging we did at the race track....
It wasn't on purpose... but my Tach needle is about 2000 RPM behind the motor when you get on it hard...

Last week I was just trying to see if my tires would break loose if I floored it at various speeds in 1st gear and I hit the rev limiter twice. I'm going to have to watch that and I'm thinking a shift light would be good. The rev limit happens quick when you start at 4000 RPM in first.

Mine has pinged the limiter a few times.
Smashed it so hard once the engine went into a fail safe mode.
Scared the heck out of me.

Oh then yes I have red lined it once. Didn't know where the limiter was and lets say I found out that night

Just to clear up something, when does the limiter hit on an LS3? I was too surprised to look.

Hit it a few times when I first got the car. Seemed just like hitting the brakes, and right where the engine has peak power. Still, I don't need to break something.

The computer should keep it from going past 6600 RPMs or at least that is what I thought. I had my '96 LT4 corvette dynoed last year and the operator took it to the red line. When I looked at the results, you could see the hp and torque lines climbing then they both went straight down. He said that is when your computer shut it down when it hit the red line. So I assume the Camaro would do the same thing right? Anyone here ever have their Camaro dynoed and can attest to this?

Bob

Half a dozen times in the first 6k miles.... since then, or probably earlier, not to much. I dont hesitate to take her to 5k often though. 6K not soo often. Cheers.
