The Accord gets no respect
I have had my Camaro for about 6 weeks now, still loving every minute of it.
But, because my drive is 90 miles/day, I am using my old accord 2 days a week. I drive the same way in the accord as in the camaro, +/-5mph of the speed limit (usually +5). I may accelerate faster in the camaro (because I can). So why is it that people continually cut me off in the accord, but not in the camaro? Yesterday morning, some ahole in a cruze passed me on the right (4 lanes and I was in the 2nd trying to get in the 1st to take an exit), and cut right in front of me. I had to slam on my brakes and lay on the horn. I want to emphasize that i was going the same speed as the rest of traffic. Same thing happened to me on the way home, but this time it was a >10yo flatbed pickup full of ladders and stuff in the back. No one cuts me off when in the camaro. Do I need to put a wing and superwide tires on the Accord? |

Maybe you drive slow in the accord?

I read a lot of posts on here about people acting like A-holes around Camaros...cutting them off, flipping them off, etc. Seems like you have the opposite problem. Maybe people see the Camaro and think twice about trying to pass it because it looks fast?

I actually get this with my Camaro every single day on the highway!!! It seems that people find the need to prove something to me.They tailgate me all the time. Its like they expect me to be going 100 mph just because I drive a Camaro.
I can be cruising down the highway at 5+ the speed limit and every other mile you will have an ahole start tailgating and pull off like crazy, as if he just proved something. Whats crazy is that I dont get this from other "sports Cars". Its ussually the old beater cars or minivans! |

When I was in my RX-7 and now my Camaro, the non-sporty cars tailgate, are rude, mess with me; occasionally a sporty car will try to race, but that's usually just kids. Guess my experience is, a lot of people are just ignorant when it comes to driving. |

LOL...there is some a-hole in Omaha that owns a Ford Lightning. He has spent some money on mods and the thing sounds pissed off and will smoke the tires at any speed. I get that. But why he has to floor it and light it up every time he spots me driving my stocker Camaro is beyond me. I'm not impressed, he just makes himself look like a total tool.

I find the same thing. In my old grand prix it was always the nice cars being D-bags, now in my camaro its all the shitty cars thinking i want to race and blowing past me and trying to cut me off.... so sad

Its because its a Camaro and people think you are moving quicker than you actually are. My Fiesta gets tailgated no matter how fast I go and everyone is always far away from the Camaro even when I'm going slow.

When you're walking around the street, our culture teaches us to be respectful.
On the road, due to the influence of movies, some people believe it's harmless to show off because you're 3 degrees of separation from other people. Therefore those who drive fancy cars like to put drivers in bombs in their place through inconsiderate driving; people who drive bombs like to put Camaro drivers in their place through aggressive driving. Basically human beings haven't changed. Jerks will be jerks, and sometimes the only opportunity for them to express their "jerk side" freely without guilt and hearing someone shout at them is on the road. |
