ECM Reprogram while at dealer
I took my 2011 V6 in today for a state inspection. The service manager told me that there was a reprogram needed for my ECM. Anyone know what this update was for or what it fixed??????

I know one of the thing it fix is cold start misfire also known as cat warm up cycle misfire. I finally talk to my service manager the other day and expressed my concern about the cat warm up cycle problems some cars are having and he told me that tons of 2009-2011 cars from traverse to camaro are having this abnormality and GM came out with couple different revision of this reflash since 2010. He said it has nothing to do with anything other than it's a simple ECU glitch and that some cars had to have this reflash as soon as they left the dealer lot. Too bad I can't get this reflash done. I guess I will just have my cat warm up cycle turned off.

Most likely for the AC compressor (not turning off) issue. Also, you may notice your OLM will now 0 out at right around 5K miles.

Depending on when you LLT was manufactured, you may notice a difference. Because of the LLT oil issue the OLM is now adjusted to be much more conservative. IMO (and I do not have confirmation of this) it's now based strictly on 5K miles, not a calculation.

Here is kind of a newb question...I should know the answer to this but I gotta ask. Sorry to go off track.
Now I know if I take my car to the dealer for any work that might involve the ECM I should go back to stock. What if I took there for some basic routine maintenance and they decide to do some computer updates like the cold start issue update, but I don't put the stock tune back in place. Would their update re-write over my custom tune, or just add to it? I'm guessing it would overwrite.....in which case they I'd have to send this back to Vince to have him add the custom tune back in....is that correct?

Thanks for the info. I was wondering because it seems to run a little better. Maybe just wishful thinking.

keith..it will overwrite most likely, but depending on what it is that they change trifecta's tune could also overwrite dealer's reflash. I am trying to find out exactly what it is that's readjusted. No luck yet.
