ZL1 problem!
A friend of mine has an ZL1, he just hit break in, shortly before break in I'm assuming 1300 miles or so he gets this loss of power almost like a slip but its not the tranny slipping. If he starts in first and accelerates to 20mph it wont do it but it does it in second and third, no problems at WOT but it is at 20mph every time, its the wierdest problem I cant figure it out. Suggestions? Solutions? Is this normal?

If the belt was loose it would slip off at wot this doesn't occur at wot good guess though thank you. Its an auto it shifts into second right before twenty I believe then has that hesitation at 20 mph on the dot.

Turn off all traction/torque managment systems. I the tires break grip and the car runs fine it is probabaly the car cutting the power. If the symptoms continue with all systems off then it is something actually causing the power loss.

Watch the Magnetic Ride Control & Performance Traction Management Video that is sticky'd up top in the ZL1 Owner Welcome Videos thread.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=220554 "Push and holding the traction control button for 5sec will turn off ALL PTM modes. Giving you full control of your ZL1." hognutz is right, this is the best way to confirm if the car is cutting power due to low traction, or if there is a larger issue.

I agree with turning off the systems and see if it still occurs or not. I am a manual trans fan myself so therefore I self manage the torque myself

Same problem on an auto V. Turn off stabilitrak completely as mentioned above. Problem will go away. There is traction loss at the change of gear and the power is cut- even in competitive mode. Keeping the MAF sensor clean also minimizes this.

And yes I like to have the "nannies off" from time to time but for everyday driving I keep it safe. |
