Looking for blower cam that's easy on springs

Sponsors/Members,

I'm doing some cam research and would like to find a cam that has a mild chop at idle, makes great mid-range power, and works well with a roots style blower. I would like the lift profile to be MODERATE as I do NOT want to replace my springs every 25K (35K doesn't cut it either) miles. It's a daily driver and will see drag time maybe 1 time a year and would like to do a road course or 2 without worrying about spring breakage.

Jannetty - I like your smooth idle blower cam but it seems like is has a very agressive lift profile (although I don't know the EXACT lift) but the sound is what I'm looking for (I know it makes great power, which is important)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

just go with the zr1 cam then. you dont have to change anything and most people see 35 rwhp gain or so.

I want something with more duration and more agressive idle than the zr1 cam though

.629 and .656 lift. Hardly fits his "moderate lift" requirement. Most any current design cam lobe is going to have lift in the .600 area for most any cam upgrade. You can use some of Comp Cams' older designs, but I'd question if the lower lift is really saving your springs. Comp has an "Extreme RPM low lift" series of lobes that might fit what you're wanting. Depending on the duration desired, the lift isn't much different than a stock LS3's.

I have 2 mild cams that would work...but neither is an ideal FI grind:

.585/.585 238/238 on a 113

.578/.578 229/229 on a 116

$250 each shipped if interested. Better than stock but both are NA grinds.

not tring to be an ass but i think what you are looking for isnt out there. you want a cam with lift you can hear but you dont want the maintinace that goes with it. get a ZR1 cam and dont worry about it or get a bigger cam and have the maintnace that goes with it

the lift isn't exactly what makes it lope. the gm hot cams only have .525 lift and sounds good because it's on a 112 LSA and has more duration. Not good for FI though...

When upgrading the cam, especially on an FI car, its important to change out the springs every 100 hours of driving to be on the safe side. Have you looked at the G6XB cam? We stock this cam and it makes great mid-level power.

We installed a cam kit, which includes the camshaft, cam springs, pushrods, retainers, etc, and the car made 584whp/590tq with a maggie, long tube headers, and the OD cog drive.

PM or call us and we can get you a great price on the G6XB cam!
