Solo Hi Flows

Can anyone who has these on their L99 say if you've had any trouble with them?

Only bad thing I've read is that the pipe that connects to the manifold flexes too much and causes the exhaust to hit the car. I've also read about the O2 extenders coming loose and rattling.

Also, do I have to use the O2 extenders? I have a tune, and would probably get it updated for the hi flows, so I don't have to worry about throwing codes.

******EDIT*****

Here are the post-install vids....

Solo HI Flows

Ive been running mine for over a year, about 10,000 miles, without any issues. I cannot speak to the tune/O2 extender question.

I have an LS3 but the areas you're referring to are the same. I believe the extender issue was because they were shipping aluminum ones. Now they are stainless. I have had no flex issues or hitting the car. If your tune eliminated the rear sensors you shouldn't need the extenders, but check with Solo to make sure the bung thread is the same as the sensor. My installer screwed mine in directly before I could catch him and ended up having to chase the threads to get the extenders in.

I'm seriously considering these. Not sure what other mods I can do except LT headers. Not ready to spend the money on a blower, or tear into the engine.

So, for those who've self-installed, what tools did you need? I was under there today changing the oil, and it seems like a relatively straight forward deal. The only part that looks tricky is getting to the bolts that attach the cats to the manifold. I'm assuming you have to get to these from the top, but how exactly did you do it. Any other pitfalls to watch out for?

The Solos do flex more than the stock cats. When I installed my Borla Catback with stock cats I left about a 1/4" Clearance over the tunnel brace and had no problem. Then I installed the Solo Cats with same clearance and the pipes rattled against the tunnel brace so I got back under and loosened the clamps on the cats and both ends of the x-pipe, held the x-pipe up higher than I wanted it to be and re-tightened the clamps. This left about 3/4" clearance after they flexed down form the weight of the pipes. No more rattle . The o2 extenders are stainless and I had no problems with them.

I've got the JBA high flows. You have to get the bolts that hold the cats to the manifolds from the top with a series of extensions on your ratchet. It helps to have another pair of hands to put them back on as well. The biggest pain is removing the O2 sensors from the stock cats. Be carefull. I had one of mine not want to come out, and finally using WD40 and an open ended wrench was able to rock it out. Just a series of back and forth losening and tighting, it eventually came out. And the freaking locks they use on the wiring for the O2 harness was a pain as well.

Cool, I think I've got enough tools. I have the right size sockets, and I bought a set of extensions and a swivel attachment, so hopefully that does the trick.

One more question...my car is already tuned, but if I use the O2 extenders with the Solos, I shouldn't need to re-tune. On the other hand, I could NOT use the extenders and get a re-tune. Is it worth messing with the tune for something like this, or should I just keep it as is?

I don't think you will need to have it retuned.

Just ordered the hi flows yesterday, and they are already scheduled for delivery today. Hopefully I'll be installing on Saturday Can't wait. I found a clip on youtube of the mach xl with the hf cats, and it sounds downright nasty.

My neighbor had an issue with his and the 3" magnaflow exhaust. It was hitting the bottom of the car. He ended up heating and bending the tubing and has had no issues since. It's an LS3, though.
