Good fit for a tall guy
Last week I finally had a chance to sit in a Camaro--any Camaro. I am a shade over 6'6" and that car had a sunroof. With the seat all the way back and all the way down, and the seatback tilted back while still maintaining an acceptable driving position, it was tolerable but I could definitely feel that the headliner was right there.
Today, at another dealer, I did the same thing in a car without the sunroof and it made all the difference. I still had the seat all the way down but I could sit a wee bit more upright, a slightly closer (more comfortable) distance from the wheel, and I cleared the headliner completely. Now all I need to do is test drive a car with a manual transmission to be sure my long legs are comfortable working the pedals and I am good to order. |

I am 6'4" And I drove one yesterday with a sunroof and it was OK but I could feel the headliner at times. I am sure with no sunroof it will be fine.

Anyone under 6'5 should be ok with the sunroof, and without the cutoff is closer to 6'7. If your 6'8 check it out first, there was a guy here saying he was 6'8 and fit the car with a sunroof that was IMO total BS. I have a long torso and barely fit in the sunroofless car. Everyones bodies are different but needless to say if your past that 6'5 mark sit in one first before ordering.

If your over 6' 5" and/or have a tall torso and are on the fence with this option...I would NOT recommend the sun roof.
I originally ordered the sunroof, but backed out after reading other forum posts. I just picked up my car today....I'm 6'5" with a 38" pant in-seem. I'm gald I deleted the sunroof!! Besides...this car sits very low when standing next to it for us tall guys...the "reverse mohawk" really adds to the line features of this car that you lose with the sun-roof. Headroom or not the car is a work of art...more-so without the top glass....IMO Oh yea...forget about anyone sitting behind you unless they had both legs previously amputated!!

I'm 6'2, no problem, a friend of mine is almost 6'9, he sat in one today with a ball cap on and didn't hit the roof.

I got in one, and i never thought about the roof. I'm 6', but i have a lot of my height in my legs. I wonder how come it's an issue, considering this car is three inches taller than the 4th gen, and 4 inches more than a 3rd gen.

I finally got to sit in one (non-sun roof), and I'll tell ya's, I'm glad I deleted the sun roof from my order awhile back! Yep, it's gonna be the reverse mohawk for me. I'm 6'4, 228 lbs....

This is the 1st Camaro that shares its platform with another vehicle - all previous generations of Camaros were built on their own, exclusive platform (F-body) which was more of a lower-slung sports car oriented type of platform. ... and I've said this before and I'll say it again, if there are any of you who are planning on taking your car to the dragstrip, participate in autoX events or track days where a helmet is required, think long and hard about getting a sunroof equipped car. If the top of your head (or hat) is brushing the headliner in a car that has a sunroof, it's likely you could have difficulty fitting into the car and finding an acceptable driving position while wearing a helmet. I'm 6'1" and although it's possible for me to fit into a car with a sunroof while wearing my helmet, the seating position/line of sight out the front is unacceptable for driving on the track. I have to sit way-y-y too low in the car to fit. Best regardSS, Elie

Don't know this for a fact, but GM High Tech Mag states that the sunroof takes away 1.5'' of roof height.
So I would stay away from the sun roof if you're real tall. |
