I just went to lowes and got primer that stick to plastic and then the Rustoleum High Heat paint. might want to try online though because selection isnt that great in a store especially for a proper red color. I painted mine myself. if you want it so be smooth then sand the cover and if you want it to be. let me know what you need help with or what questions i can answer. im no painting expert but i did it myself and it looks great.

walmart, krylon fusion no primer, just light sanding and alittle greas and wax remover.[IMG][/IMG]

after a year and a half and some stickers later.

the stickers have been on for about a year, and still not peeling off.

I was looking around Autozone yesterday, and they have a whole bunch of high heat paints. A lot of colors, many brands, most of them say they're specifically for engines.

Washed down with mineral spirits followed by alcohol, dried thoroughly, sprayed with Krylon, 5 coats. Love the results. Did the fuse box cover as well, 2 cans.

Rust-Oleum White Heat-Resistant Spray Paint (at AutoZone) used it before, works well! http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...fier=69499_0_0_

All I use is Krylon, and shoot it with white first as a base coat for bright colors.

I also went to lowes and got the Rustoleum spray. I did satin black. It has held up perfectly fine. Only issue I had painting my cover was finding a tape that would stick to the plastic. I am not exactly experienced in DIY paint jobs, but after some light sanding, and a good cleaning, I was able to make it work, and it looks fantastic. Much better than spending 150+ on a new painted cover.

When I originally did my engine cover, I used some everyday paint in silver and hit it with a clear coat. However, after a few months of the heat, it started to yellow. I resanded and this time I used Duplicolor Silver for GM cars and their clear coat. Had it on for the past year and a half with NO issues with color yellowing. Just my experience with it though.
