Guess What I Found Today?

1138 miles on my replacement CRT 1SS Vert. Top has been down 21 times since I took delivery on 4/17/12. Looks what rears its ugly head finally. Yes a nice 4 inch long rub mark. Same thing happened on my last car after replacement. This car was built on 4/4/12 with the supposed fixes on the line. I do not buy it. I am now so fed up with GM and their BS. You can bet there is going to be hell to pay this time. No more mister nice guy from me. They thought I was hell the last time? They ain't seen nothing yet!!!! I am beyond pissed off at this point. Lets see the dealership try to blame this one on me like they did last time!!!! Ok I vented and I am really sorry for starting a new post but everyone has been wondering about my replacement car. Here you go. Decide for yourself if you want that 60 thousand dollar ZL1!

It more than sucks. Cannot wait for one of the GM service reps to chime in on this one. Hope they know my back story before they do. I guess I will be sending another email off to Jack saying WTF? I should of just went the lemon law route on the old one instead of letting them make it right this time.

That sucks man. With all the issues you vert guys have, I don't think it's worth having at all. Too many things to fail it seems. Hope GM will actually step up to make you happy.

Jesus, rub marks happen. It's a variety of moving metal parts underneath a CLOTH (not some super tough type of material) top! If you were going to have a mental case about it, why haven't you gotten a coupe? There you go, problem solved!

This type of stuff happens in ALL convertibles! I've seen and heard worse from people who have had vinyl convertible tops.

The only way to *PROLONG* (not prevent because it is nearly impossible unless you want an exotic type of top) is to make the cloth thicker. But that is not a good decision because the more thicker the cloth, the more the car will weigh overall. Not to mention sooner or later you WILL see rub marks! It will just show itself later.

Please enlighten me if I'm waaaay off base. Just a question though, if someone knows personally, do other vehicles tops show no rub marks at all after a while of ownership?

I respectfully say bullspit. This is my second one. GM bought back the first due to all the problems I had with the top among other issues. I was told by Jack Pantaleo personally that the fix was on the line and I should order a new one. I did and it was produced on 4/4/12. This car only has 1138 miles on it. Top down 21 times only. Had it for 6 weeks. Normal? Don't think so Tim. Take a look at the top on my 95 Firebird. All original with 103K on it. This top was 16 years old when I sold it. Looked just like new. This has been an ongoing issues since day one of production last year. I am afraid that it will carry over to the 3rd model year. You think this is acceptable? Would you accept rust spots on your top in 6 weeks of ownership? Then they keep coming back cause there isn't a true fix?

Note my Firebird has no rub marks. Yes, after time a top will show imperfections which is to be expected. Not right after delivery.

have you invested over $40K in a vert yet? I'm thinking NO. Until then, be respectful of the issues people on here ARE having. TYVM.

Do they have a right to complain? Damn skippy. If GM wasn't acknowledging that these tops had issues they wouldn't be BUYING THEM BACK. And yes, my 2011 was one of those bought back.

Wrinkles, fabric marks that wash out or can be smoothed out? Sure. No issue there. HOLES and RIPS are NOT acceptable. Serious rub marks are the beginnings of those. Our vert had HOLES at 6K miles. 43K car. NOT ACCEPTABLE. And yes, we did allow GM ample time and opportunity to fix it.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend. :flag1::flag2:

This is the top after replacement on my old car. Rub mark looks almost identical to what is on my new car. Coincidence? How can the same mark happen on a brand new car?
