Question Ultra High Gloss Black Rally Stripes?

Okay, I thought this would be easy to find, but after a frustrating hour on Google, I'm gonna need some help!

I was looking at the OEM style Rally Stripe Kit (92225513) but it appears these are a sort of "semi-gloss". I want them to be glossy... as glossy as possible.

I've seen many different kits on eBay etc., but can't tell what to look for as far as brand, quality (2 mil? 3 mil? 7 year?).

Can someone point me in the direction of a quality set of Ultra High Gloss Black Rally Stripes?

Thanks for the help!

Several vendors on C5 sell a variety of colors. Try searching Big Worm.

Don't waste your money on vinyl, Tho vinyl does have it's uses a substitute for paint isn't one of them.

I bought a set of hood spears off ebay for $20 and they turned out great. They are 3M vinyl (not sure of grade) and I've had zero issues.

By far not a 'waste of money'

Sure you could get them painted on but you better be sure that's what you want on your car. I can go outside now and pull the stripes off in less than a minute if I change my mind an you'd never know they were vinyl unless you feel the edge and who does that?

I'm not sure why people tell someone not to get something they want. You don't know the situation. Maybe he's not sure what type he wants so he's going vinyl first or maybe he just can't afford to get them painted. Either way it's his car, do what ever you want.

Plus for $500-$600 what kind of paint job are you getting, sounds kind of on the low side to get them done. I would think closer to $1K if done right (clear sanded off, paint, re-cleared).

If a person, that I wasn't great friends with, quoted me a price of 5-600 dollars for painted stripes, I would'nt walk away I would run away.

I knew someone would suggest painting... and I have considered it. But like the others here, I suspect a good, professionally done job would easily be over $1K.

Also there is the resale / trade-in value to consider. I think you'd take a value hit if you painted them on. That seems ironic given that everyone will agree well painted stripes look better, but I think its that "not as originally equipped" thing.

I'm surprised no one posted links to any glossy ones. Am I the only one who thinks glossy black would look good in the Inferno Orange? Whenever this happens (I have an idea I think is good but then can't find anyone else doing it) I think "hmm... maybe it won't look good at all and that's why you can't readily find them".

Sure hope that's not the case here!

Which ones did you get? The ones I got look retarded and don't fit the contour of the cowl at all!

I think it will look good. But I loved Matte Black on mine.

Ya i wasn't sure how the matte stripes was going to come out. But it looks quite good on my inferno orange Camaro. Glassy black should turn out quite nice too. Tho if i ever need to get them replace, I probbably would get them painted. It really a matter of preference on it both styles really look nice.

I had the same thought as you and I also wanted gloss black vinyl. I had a local sign shop make me a set of Rallys in gloss black and install them. They used 3M vinyl and it has a 7 year life. Here are a few pics on my VR. You can definitely tell that they are vinyl and not painted because the level of gloss isn't quite there but overall I'm pretty happy with them.
