Really, can you elaborate? I was thinking of the Dalar-5 for my SS.

Mine, and perhaps I'm not the norm, are cast in China and you can tell. The centers are machine finished but where they aren't is so poor it almost looks as if they were "bondo"'d over. They are very wavy. There is slag or whatever you call it in the casting process all over the backs. You can grab pieces and twist them off. The "stainless" lips are either very thin metal covers, or more likely plastic plated covers slipped over the wheel edge. I am going to hate to see what happens if a pebble or rock kicks up and hits that lip at speed. I guaranty it will cause devestating cosmetic results. The paint on the centers is crap. The mounting pads are so ridiculously engineered the front lugs are recessed in the wheel so you need tuner lugs and the rears stick out almost 2" from the face. The center caps are plastic, which is pretty much the norm however.
I have Forgelines on my 67 and the difference is night and day. I have never felt worried about any wheels, but I am with these. They look nice and for the price Iguess you get what you pay for. I say this only becasue I knew exactly what I was getting into... well maybe not exactly but you get the idea. For someone else to buy these chinese pos's and think they are getting a "deal" would weigh on my mind. I was going to sell my stock wheels. I was so unimpressed with these, I had to back out of the sale so I could keep the stock ones for the occasional track. I will be thinking about these wheels whenever I drive hard. If you can, I would spend the money. I would never, never in a million years put them on my irreplacable 67. Is that enough? Again, no offense to Giovanna, just my personal opinion. The wheels posted look to be a different design and might be better. Here are mine. I do think they look cool.

Wow, thanks for the input, I'm really getting cold feet now. From the pics they do look nice on your car; although, like you said looks aren't everything.
I'm in contact with the vendor on the Dalar-5's and mentioned someone had questioned the quality of the Giovanna's, I'm curious to see what he has to say.

Ask mntgot1 up there maybe his are perfect and you have no worries. I'm in Jersey if you want to see mine.
To be honest I can live with everythign but that stupid lip design. Well, that and the fact that I think my 600hp will eat them for breakfast. |

In response to the quality issue, Giovanna did have a problem with the casting/finishing on the silver Monza and Mecca style wheels. They admitted to it and have since addressed the issue. The problem with the above wheels in no way reflects the entire Giovanna line, we have been the top distributor in the country for this brand for 10 years running and I can assure you that the Monza issue does not reflect the quality of the entire lineup. No wheel brand is perfect and without flaws and anybody who has purchased wheels over the years, or been in the business can attest to that. We stock well over $800K worth of WTW (Giovanna, Gianelle, KOKO Koture, and GFG) product and I can promise you we would not do it if the quality was horrible.

Well there ya go. No worries.
Do I get a special prize if I got a crappy set? They were bought from you guys but I'm the second owner ![]() Sean can you also address my lip worry? Is it a plastic cover? I'm afraid to tap it too hard. Might be good information for the masses. |

I honestly cant speak on the quality of Giavonna. They are a very inexspensive rim that I thought would look nice with the Ashen Grey. I have never thought about the craftsmanship when it comes to these wheels. I have driven from a range of cruising at 70MPH to rushing home at 138MPH without worry..... After reading AintQiks posting I might have to rethink the rushing home part from now on. But as far as looks I have been told a million times that these are some of the best rims people have seen on a vehicle. There are usually two types of individuals that purchase rims. Type 1 is looking for a light wheel for performance, Type 2 is looking for a wheel strictly on looks. I easily fall into the Type 2 Category. I did BTW keep my factory wheels and throw some Nitto NT05R for the strip. So far as peoples arguments about 22's being heavy and slow, I will tell you like I tell everyone else you put enough power behind them and they will move.

Sean - Do you believe these wheels can hold up as well as OEM when pushed to the limit?

They will hold up equally as well as the OEM wheels due to the fact that they are built the same exact way. Some consumers have are under this misconception that OE wheels are built in a fantasy factory somewhere other than China, I'm here to tell you guys...that factory does not exist.
![]() The Camaro SS OEM wheel is a 1-piece cast aluminum wheel created in the same type of mold that any Giovanna or Vossen or Niche or any other cast wheel is created in. There are in fact a handful of wheels produced in Korea, but 90%+ of the cast aluminum wheels produced by any manufacturer are produced in China. To answer your question, yes they will hold up just as well as any OEM wheel would, outside of the realm of a forged wheel on some of the high dollar exotics that we deal with. We have been in business for over 20 years guys, we haven't gotten where we are by selling poor quality or unsafe product. Paint blemishes do not speak of the safety or the "speed rating" of a wheel, they simply mean that there was blemish in the paint. There are in fact brands that are being peddled on this forum that we would never recommend or sell, it doesn;t mean we bash them we just choose to steer clear of them. Maybe the pictures below of the car we just finished this morning will give you an indication of the confidence we have in this product. Take it for what it is. ![]() ![]() ![]()
