ORDERED 1SS CAMARO...QUESTION?

whats up fellas? i just ordered a 1ss camaro rs as of monday here in houston tx....the guy that placed the order for me was pretty cool, he told me he was thinking around september the car would be here. i figured it would have been longer than that? so my question is does that sound about right as far as the time frame goes? and also how long after you placed the order did any of you recieve the phone call letting you know it was official or whatever? any info is greatly appreciated -thanks

Lots of variables in the timeline. How many people were in front of you at your dealer? How many allocations did they have? I ordered on the 5th and was told September "ish" too.

My dealer told me 12 weeks possibly longer, I ordered yesterday. The thing with them is he told me if other people came to him and were willing to pay more than MSRP they were getting priority over the people who are paying MSRP, so It could get pushed back further and further, He said he wanted to be honest with me of how it was going to be. 18 allocations, 15 accounted for as of yesterday.... hopefully no-one else orders there!!

I'd look around to get a SOLID, "We only sell at MSRP and you are #_. You can expect it to be here in _____. Why? Because they have to ENTER the order to be built. Once it gets entered and picked up, that's YOUR car. If someone else comes along and says, "HEY!!! It just so happens that I want the exact same car that he is ordering and I'll pay $1000 over sticker for it," YOU JUST LOST IT. He is a DEALER...and is out for MONEY. Dude...go find someone that won't screw you like this guy says he is WILLING to do.

Just my .02

Should be officially ordered by now... Get them to print you out the Workbench Order form... that way you can double check everything and make changes if needed. Sept sounds like a pretty good guess.

BTW... what dealership did you order from... If it's Mac Hait... get your deal in writing...

If you grabbed a spot in your dealers' allocation group you should have it by end of August from what I've been told. My dealer has had a 8 to 12 week success rate for his first 4 orders. Im number 8 so we will see I guess....

What dealer did you order from? You should not be ordering from someone who is not giving you accurate pricing or solid information.
I think you should go check out Classic Chevrolet in Sugarland (if that is not where you went). Those people will be honest with you and never charge above MSRP.
September does sound about right depending on how bankruptcy affects production.

I ordered from champion chevrolet off of addick's rd......the guy who placed the order for me was the fleet manager there his name was jerry johnson, he seemed like a very nice guy and seem to know what he was doing. he gave me the order paper with the "all letters" confirmation and a typed up and signed paper saying i would get it for msrp.

That's what I was thinking. Once the order has been put through the process I don't see how the dealership can change the priority, especially if the workbench has been printed out.

My dealer mentioned something like that but I was thinking I might have misunderstood, thats why he said if they had someone who wanted to pay more than MSRP they would take priority over me, he said they go into a queue, and they have some control because they can assign priorities, but if my order was pulled and building was started, the order was mine, they would not sell that car to anyone else like some dealers are doing, anyone know something about this? Maybe CamaroScotty can clear it up

Congrats to al of you that ordered! The timelines you are giving are about correct +/- a few weeks depending on constraints and such..... not to mention that Quality hold could affect those delivery dates. The plant has ramped up production very well so they are producing 2k+ camaros per week so who knows, yours may show up sooner than expected. It will be worth the wait though!
