When Did You Do your first oil change

im looking for people who are actually planning on keeping the car and not trading it in later...i have heard a few different opinions, one guy told me to keep the original oil in there for awhile because of all the lubricants gm adds to the oil, and another guy tell me to get it out at a maximum of 1000 miles and put a good synthetic oil in. what do you guys think

edit...sorry if this has been posted before

I typically do my first change at 1000, again at 5000, then every 5000 after that ...

I've heard that changing the oil in your car sometimes is good for it. Helps it run longer or something

I just did my first oil change yesterday. I had about 2100 miles on it. Service said I really didn't need to do it that soon I told him I was old school and would feel better about it if I did it now, so they said OK.They said I should use GM synthetic blend that's what my 2012 SS calls for. What do you guys think Blend or pure Synthetic?

well i have 5,000 on mine now, puter says i still have like 33% left, in the past u needed to change your oil pretty often only because the engines were made pretty sloppy and had alot of issues with blow by and metal shavings and other contamination in the oil, as we all know engines have come along way and built much much better and engine oils have also come along way, so there is no reason to change like every 3000 miles unless you really like changing it and or have to much money and no other place to spend it.

Did a hard break in, so about 500 miles.
Some people say you should change it early and often, some don't. But in reality its not like you're hurting anything by changing the oil. I do it myself so its not like its that expensive, plus I get more bonding time with my car.

My first oil change is due in July. At the moment I have about 4800 miles on my car. Since I drive my car very seldom, I think once a year is enough.

BTW: Can anyone tell me please, where the best hydraulic lift points are? Unfortunately I have no workshop which can handle american cars, so that I have to drive to my Honda work shop.

I'm at 3,200 and haven't yet...as soon as she turns 6 months old I will take it right in. My free oil changes from the dealer are every 6 months. I'm due in one month.

I change it whenever the oil starts to get black, no matter how many miles, but I never go over 3000 miles even with the synthetic. the oil life is never below 50% when I change it. I like to do my 1st oil change at 500-1000 miles. then evry 3000 or sooner, may be over kill but it cant hurt it, I want to keep the engine (internal) clean as possible.
