What gas do you run?

I have a 2012 V6 LFX I use 87 octane (dealer recommended ) just wondering if anyone uses a higher octane and if so do you notice better gas mileage or performance?

nope, I use 87 as well in my v6. some people run higher octane in the v6 but its just costs them more money to fill up, thats it. Ive seen a hundred threads on this.

Nope. 87 Octane here. I've heard higher octane boosts the performance a little bit in these cars, but to me it's not worth it. Regular gas was one of the reasons I got the V6.

I use 93 when just driving. But when at the track I spray in some 100% Meth when boosting.

93 can you do a fuse pull to take advantage of the 93 as opposed to 91? Or does the code pull only reset to 91.

the v6 does not have two separate octane table like the V8, but it does adjust timing a little bit depending on octane. I always run 91 in my LFX because that is what's available to me.

Uh, YES it makes a BIG difference. It resets the PCM on the car to a lower octane table when you use the lower octane. The V6 will automatically reset itself to the higher octane table when you start runing higher octane. The V8's have to do a fuse pull to get it to reset

I saw a big difference when I started running Shell 93 octane after the low octane crap the dealer put in it (even the factory uses lower octane). You should also use "Top Tier" gasoline recommended by GM (go to www.toptiergas.com ). I run only Shell 93 octane. It is WELL worth the extra $ to me. I get a much better permagrin. There is a ton of info on C5 on all this if you search.

Shell 93 ONLY!

I can say without a doubt I noticed a difference between 87 and 93!

93 octane must be a regional thing, highest sold here unless you buy racing gas is 91 octane.
