Went to make an offer on a V-6

Well it was a 2LT but not RS like they said... so no offer, just the black roof ditch moulding is enough to get RS. They have offers on the table but are holding out for $5k over MSRP. And two deal adjusters/breakers if it was my pre-order. The seat had a fairly unfortunate leather tag sticking out of the stitching, also the wheels looked "rough" under the paint."lucky I went polished
speaking of paint, this paint job was very good compaired to the red LT I sat in last week. Oh and the other thing I've been pondering, I fit great in this car WITH the sunroof, my worries are over for the 2SS/RS with roof on order!!! I suppose the base interior IMO was not as comfortable/appealing but the top trim level screamed start me up and haul a$$!! VIN # 6275

Believe it or not I didn't even see it until I downloaded my pictures..It is actually the material that would be inside the stitch that got up through the threads, no tear. I suppose any salesman worth his salt with a razor knife could fix that...

That's not a tear in the seat.

It is an "Airbag" label

That's great to know..... I was going to investigate it more and try and get it for my wife but they told me it sold for 6k over MSRP. Since the first thing the sales staff are saying is " after June 1st this may be a very rare car" must have turned someones gut enough to go for it!!

Ranger man you can order NOW at MSRP and still be waiting 6-8 months. There are dealers out there who WILL write up the REAL order and give you peace of mind whilst you wait for her arrive.Ask me how I know.

Oh, whatever! Gawd, these stupid dealer shenanigans are pissing me off. To use the threat of GM's pending bankruptcy to try to convince some poor sucker to buy a V-6 Camaro for $6,000 over MSRP with the idea that it will become an instant classic is BS.

I said this in another thread, but I'll repeat it here: We are having to endure a perfect storm of dealer douchebaggery when it comes to this car. They've got a hot car with a lot of interest and demand coupled with the uncertainty of bankruptcy and dealer closings on top of that. It's causing a lot of the saleslizards, who are usually pretty ethically challenged to begin with, to be even more unethical.

I swear to God I wish you could buy a car directly from GM through the Internet without having to ever set foot in a dealership. You could have small storefronts in malls with a few cars available for test drives, but that would be it. You'd go online and build your car with the options you want. Do all the paperwork and financing electronically and then have the car delivered directly to your house on a rollback. That would be awesome.

I've never gone back to the dealer (unless it was for recall repairs) after I've bought a vehicle. I have a honest mechanic that has done all my work.

I keep reading on how all these dealers are selling thier cars for X thousands over MSRP and it seems like everbody is riping on the salesmen. You need to remember that they are trying to make a living too. If alot of the cars are going for thousands over MSRP, then isnt that the going rate? The people buying the cars must be happy, and nobody is forcing them to sign the contract, so why the hate on the salesmen?

I understand that there is a lot of excess demand and short supply right now and I have no problem with capitalism working as it's supposed to. What I objected to was the saleslizards at this dealership using the possibility of the bankruptcy to convince people to pay too much for the car because it might be rare in three weeks. That's just stupid on so many levels it's hard to comprehend.

I admit that this isn't the worst example of dealer douchebaggery to come to light over this car. Check the threads of people who pre- ordered for an agreed upon price being hit up for thousands of dollars more when they went to pick up their car. There are a lot of shady SOBs out there who have lost what little ethical moorings they have over turning a quick buck on this car.

The Dodge dealers did the same things when the Challenger came out last Fall. One dealer in my area marked their first two SRT8s up $19,000. Six months later this same dealership has 7 unsold Challengers sitting on their lot and the markups are gone. I figure the same pattern will hold for the Camaro.
