My wife gets it!

Leaving work tonight and this ricer keeps pulling up beside us revving and jumping from light to light headed toward the highway, the whole time I'm trying to ignore him. We hit the entrance ramp with me in front. This ramp is a fabulous clover leaf with a nice bank that spills onto the four mile long I-10 bridge over Mobile bay. As we're merging onto the ramp I say "I'm fixin' to hurt this guys feelings REAL BAD". Now this is the point where most wives would not be impressed. So I paddle her into second and accelerate just enough to let him think "it's on" and he stays right up my ass. I shift into third and lay into it well before the ramp straightens out and he tries to run with us but by the time I hit fourth he's a good 200 yards back. I ease off and drift down to around 80 (pretty typical speed for most on the bridge) and he finally catches up after a good two miles and revs his motor when he passes us.

I say to Debbie "I guess he didn't think it was gonna be like that" just being funny and she quips right back, "yeh, why would you want to start your weekend like that?" I'm still laughing!

What kind of Rocket Cutlass you got? I've got a 75 Cutlass with a 455 out of a 68 Delta 88.

Love the I-10 causways from Flordia to Louisiana, long straight 2 lane roads over water with at the right time little traffic. Make for a nice leisurely sunday driving environment.

Lots of people like the I10. My uncle lives down there and we visit every summer. Anyway, his neighbor is a highway patrolman and spends most of each shift sitting at the entrance/exit past where they live watching for speeders. He only goes after those running 100+ mph and he averages 2 per shift.

Wow, sounds like a fun place to drive. I could keep it under 100 and have a ball.....

3rd gear is quite the beast in the SS. Hell, even the V6 surprises me with 3rd gear power. Nice that the wife is on board with ya, Mike! I had to snicker at the part where you paddled her though, you meant the Camaro, not the wife!
