Hi Everyone!
First time posting, to the world's best Camaro forum! Need some insight.. I have a 2010 2SS, that I purchased new in May of 2010. She currently has 8400 miles on her, and is now back in for an almost regular monthly repair or TSB. I actually can't remember a time yet that I have owned it where it was not at the dealer for a 3-5 day repair job, unless it's in storage from November through April, since I live near Chicago. Issues with the car seem to be non stop oil leaking, steering wheel vibrations when stopping(fixed by stacking weights on my Brembos, doh!) starting and rough idle issues, engine dying out at stop lights, air bag service indicator in the DIC, reduced power display in the DIC at times, and as of yesterday, it is sitting waiting for a new power steering pump(hopefully by friday). I have had oil cooler and lines replaced 3 times, oil pan gasket twice, all kinds of reflash programming updates.. Car is still not right... My car has never seen rain or snow, it's a total weekend only driver for the most part and the occasional drive to work. My only mods are an SLP Loud Mouth axel back, Black Wing Air tube, SLP Skip Shift, and SLP springs and sways. Anyways, with my warranty being up in May of 2013, and since the car will be in storage from the end of November until April of 2013, I am freaking out a bit knowing all these issues that seem to be constant and in the long run, could cost me a ton to maintain... Dealership is offering me an extended GM warranty for $1700 bumper to bumper, 7 more years with an 8000 mile a year limit(though I only put about 4000 a year on) or trading it in with a $29k offer towards a new Camaro. Part of me wants to dump the car and not look back. Are these common issues of owning a first run car? Should I just deal with it and hope that it gets worked out? I am thinking since many of the issues are TSB's, even after the warranty, GM still have to fix them at no cost to me, right? Thanks reading my rant! |

You could have a lemon on your hands. Hopefully someone with better info on the lemon law could chime in.

Isn't there a law regarding the number of days it's in the shop within an amount of time? I'd say buy-back for a new one or a 2013 because that is just ridiculous. How has the dealership been for receptiveness?

Not 100% sure if you can lemon-ize it, but you sure have a good case it seems.
If you can't lemon-law it, and if you can get 29k for it on a trade in, I can't tell you what to do....but if'n it were me, I'd do it!!!

For the most part, I don't think the dealership cares one way or the other. The service manager and I went to high school together, and he knows "I am very picky" about my cars. Since 99% of the issues I have are TSB's I am considered to be over reacting for the most part. I just did not expect my Camaro to be hitting all the TSB's. Plus I thought once they are fixed, that should be it....

Dude I got one too! Vibrates more some days sometimes it's perfect. The oil leaked from oil cooler, trans feels like crap sometimes. Reflashed bunch of times, brakes squeal all the time idles bad during cold start suspension pops goin over bumps. But it's still awesome it's a camaro better than all the previous ones but still a camaro.

Sounds like you got a lemon... I got my 2010 in May of that year and it's been in the shop once to replace an O2 sensor that I think I blew during a hard launch.... I have over 56k on it now with no problems... yes I drive it in the rain, sun, etc....

That certainly isn't normal, I have a 2010 2SS/RS that I got in June of 2009. It's a preproduction R6P and the only problem I have had is one tire monitor was bad right out of the factory.
I would tell the dealer you want to talk to the GM rep or else you will take matters into your own hands. Holding up a sign telling the world all of the problems you are having with the car will certainly get attention. I have a friend that bought a Dodge pick up and nothing but problems. He couldn't get anyone to do anything so he started a Facebook page about what a POS the truck was and how Dodge refused to do anything. He ended up with a new truck so long as he took the Facebook page down. My motive is to play nice at the start but if the other party doesn't want to play ball nicely than I pretty much declare war and do anything I can to get attention. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Russ |

I'd take that 29k and buy a new 2013 and move on from the situation. If you don't you'll always have that sense of uncertainty about the car.

not my expierience
Purchased a 2010 in October 2009 and never been back to the dealer for anything. Knock on wood.Sounds like if you can get a offer to take it back that would be best.If not take the trade in offer and pedal her.Too much going on with it to take a chance keeping it.In my opinion.
