I have always used Mobil 1 75W90 gear oil plus you don't need friction modifier.
Just make sure you change it on time though.

Based on Ted's recommendation I'm running 10W30 Mobil 1. I also run about 7 quarts (at the low mark on the dipstick) per his recommendation. 4000 miles later and no issues.

GM engineering highly recommends that you use Mobil 1 5W30
synthetic motor oil and "5W30" is the correct weight motor oil
to use not "10W30" FYI.

Based on experience, I think Jannetty knows what they are doing. For the LS3, there are some cavitation issues running the oil too high.

Guess it depends on what you are doing with your cammed car.......racing, daily driver, garage queen?
I know many are hung up on what GM recommends..........but its moslty to meet EPA standards and othe such government mumbo jumbo.
Yes, synthetics are super slick long lasting oils............but they also are not good penetrating oils.
If you beat your car up at the track, I'd suggest moving up to a 40wt.
But if its just the daily driver, I go to the track once a month car, then stick with your Mobil 1.
And if this is a 'I'm thinking about getting a cam' post, then I would suggest using a good old fashoned dino oil at the time of the cam install, and then what ever you want the next oil change.

M1 is good, Amsoil, and several others are a step above since M1 eliminated some of the antiwear properties a few years ago....Andy from Amsoil is a member here....check with him.

I think that Mobil 1 and Mobil 1 Extended Performance are both
excellent top notch high quality oil motors to use in your vehicle.
It's hard to argue that the people how build these LSX engines
highly recommend using Mobil 1 motor oil in their engines.
The Super Syn anti-wear techology is one of if not the best
anti-wear additives out there.I know that their are many benefits
from using Mobil 1 motor oil in your engine as I have used Mobil 1
for years and years.Nothing performs like Mobil 1 I belive with
outstanding wear protection and engine cleanliness, excellent
high and low temperature performance, excellent fuel economy,
helps prevent deposits and sludge build-up to enable long engine life,
and meets all GM's specifications.
Definitely do your own research and see for yourself the many
benefits of using Mobil 1 in your vehcile.

Wow, that was alot good words, no wonder why suspended.
I perfer AMSoil and Castrol Edge, heard about Redline and Royal purple are good as well. Just don't think Mobil 1 is the only "1" to go.
