How's this for a Delivery story!

Just joined yesterday, 2nd post.

Been working with the local dealer to find the combo I want: 2SS CRT regular stick, no extras. Found one in NC, I'm in FL. Had to give up Black interior for Grey. Took a week of the Sales Mgr here trying to get the SM in NC to talk to him. Finally got the Gen Mgr to call the NC GM and got it worked out. Truck sent to NC with a swap car to pick up my car yesterday. Before the driver could get out of NC today on the return leg the truck breaks down. I get a call from my son-in-law who is a Service Advisor at my dealer telling me what happened and to ask me if it's OK for the driver to drive my car back, otherwise it will be several days or longer before my car gets here. They assure me that my warranty will start from whatever mileage is on the car when I take delivery. I've already been assured of this. Bought a MRO car with 10k on it before with no problems.

I said OK. I'm tired of waiting and have been driving a rental for over two weeks since my '83's tranny went out. I'm just going to ask that since I'll be taking delivery of a "new" car with 400 to 500 miles on it that they do a scan and report max speed and revs and document them on the sales order. Not that I don't trust the driver, it's just a long drive to not be tempted to play around a little. Oh well, that much closer to break-in.

Any opinions?

Personally, I'd wait the couple days. I'd rather pop my Camaro's cherry than have some other guy do it.

When you pick up your new Camaro take a much closer look than you normally would for chips and scratches. You are already getting a scan for abuse so you should be fine. Welcome to Camaro!

Thanks Pete. I'm gonna have fun. Already got a lot of people wanting rides and a co-worker with an '02 Z06 wanting to run. Not till break-in

Just pull up the average mile per gallon screen on the DIC. Nobody resets them except me...lol

You can bet that truck driver has a CDL and won't want to risk a major violation.

I think I would wait the couple of days. I don't like for strangers to drive my car (even though technically it's not your car yet).

Not sure what I would have done in your case. I understand you wanting to get the car, hopefully the driver takes care of it for you (and the dealer takes care of you).

WHAT?!?! Oh helzzz no!

To each his own but I would have waited a month if it meant nobody else got to play in my car, pass gas on my seat, leave random bits of DNA on the wheel, shifter, etc. (yeah, I know, I'm a bit OCD)
But mainly, if I'm paying new price then I want new.

Having said that, welcome to the club!!
