A new ride to the family garage

The Camaro is my summer ride and for the last two winters I have been driving a 2003 S 10 p/u. Its yellow as well and painted the same as the Camaro. However, my son turns 17 in Nov and has his eye on the S10. In addition, I just want a significant upgrade so I planned on buying SOMETHING as a winter car in Nov.

yesterday i drove by a 2007 Super Bee SRT 8 Charger on the Applewood Kia lot.

Stopped to look at it and have now bought it. BUT.... this car is VERY special.

About 680 HP
KW coil overs
22 inch Vossen wheels
8 piston Brembo brake upgrade
HID headlights and LED tail lights.
CF hood
Ridiculous stereo system. I mean... 32 inch screen, PS 3, gigantic amps and sci fi speaker system in the truck.
LOTS of other details. I would estimate we are talking $50k in upgrades and mods.

In fact.... the same type of build as the Camaro (of course the Camaro has more things done).

Downside its an Auto BUT... this is suppose to be the winter car so an auto is OK for those days of slow traffic through the tunnel.

The price was simply to low to not buy it.

The story is that is was bought new and modified by a young Japanese person. Then he had to move back to Japan urgently (like days notice) as a result of a family emergency to manage the business and was not coming back. It appears he just dumped it on Applewood.

Well... this purchase is now under referee review. As much as I had a deal in principle, the final item was a test drive and.... well.... the decision is under review. There are a couple of very large issues to address which might explain the good price. Further research required before final decision.

Let me look at the details of the show. I have to be at a cirque de solei show on that day.

A 680 hp winter car? If you're talkin snow and sleet, good luck. I suggest selling it to young man or lady that would take it shows and drive it in the warm months. Sailing that beauty up is a travesty.

Not fussy on wheels, but that is a sweet car!Very nice! I love my 2010 Charger! Its my daily driver! Nothin fancy, just the 6 banger. My daughter has an SRT8 Charger commin soon!

Well the black vinyl and grey strip will go. It has a cf hood so that will get some exposure. It has a vortech blower with a bad tune. I think the engine is hurt and probably the tranny. Getting a professional inspection tomorrow. At the right price im still a buyer just need to know what i have to deal with.. As you say not really a winter car. Maybe the wife will take it as her summer ride.

Yikes, Hopefully they come down a bunch if it ends up needing engine and trans work. Without the vinyl and stripe now were talking at the right price that is. As for a winter driver I say let her buck!!!!

So i bought it. Needs a little work but nothing serious. i found out who did the stereo system. They said the bill was $22k

WTF!!!!! 22K on a stero system, thats more than I paid for my first house and more than I have in the entertainment systems we have in our house, . What was up with the engine and transmission? Removing the black and grey will make it much more presentable, even if it is a Dodge, Jk, cool car.

Asian kid with too much money. The amps were over four grand each.. There are rwo. Two sub speakers at 1200 each. Tranny is fine. Vibration is from headers exhaust vibrating on chassis. Streeing wheel shudder at certain speeds due to really low tire pressure on rubber band tires. Crankcase is presuurized resulting in bad oil leak due to no check valve on the pcv and it has a blow off valve but should perhaps also have a surge valve.

Finally the kia dealership had put in new plugs and not gapped them right. At boost the spark was getting blown out hence the breaking up. Also it has a cog drive which is very unforgiving. Bottom line.... 500 to fix up. Car has 30k kms and stereo and blower is 14 months old
