Does your top start going up uneven?

When I drive for a while then stop to put my top up the left side goes up about 6 to 8 inches before the other side moves then the right side catches up. It makes me think its going to break something. Does anyone else see this on your convertible.

When you lift it manually you are not moving the entire mechanism. It would be the last bow that has the extra load on it from interference. Catching was maybe not the right word but do not cycle it until the dealer looks at it.

Did this just start happening and was working correctly before?
Or did you just get the car and it's always done this?

I never noticed it before last week. I had the car from new. Do all your tops start up even. I can go from inside the trunk and push it up and I don't feel anything catching. I think the rams that lift the top are not independent from one another cause I can stop the stop a foot up from closed and push one side down a little and it causes the other side to rase so I think the top just floats between the two rams.

I took mine in for the top TSB's and talked to them about the same thing. I've noticed the one side starts to rise ahead of the other. Once, the passenger side came up over a foot with the drivers side still in the well. If the wife hadn't seen it and yelled I don't know how far it would have gone. Now I watch it in the mirror everytime I raise it. I've never found any obstruction, or interference from the water bag. Of course the service techs said it was "normal". There's been no damage to the bows, and the top still docks square with the windshield. I had it documented in my service records, and I'll have it looked at again before the warranty expires.

I'd bring it in for at least documantation.

Any old convertible owner will tell (and I fit both those descriptions ) that it is not a good thing for the top to go up unevenly. Regardless of the reason, it puts stress on the whole mechanism.

This problem should be addressed.
