What a storm!
Derecho? Never heard of that before Friday night. I suppose you Midwest C5'ers can tell us more about them. Truth be told though, I doubt anyone in the Mid-Atlantic DMV wants to hear more about them. :(
My power was out for 62 hours. Cleaning out the fridge and freezer wasn't pleasant at all. Much less trying to sleep in record heat.... So, how about the rest of you? Lose power? How long, or are you still out? For those who have no idea what I'm on about, a t-storm knocked the living shit out of DC MD and VA last Friday night (06/29/12), around 10-11pm. Saying the damage was catastrophic would be a stretch, but for a 10 minute storm it was stronger than any I've seen, short of a tornado. The local media claims the straight line winds were in excess of 90 mph in places.

Frank, we had them too, but were lucky, only lost phones for a day and a half.
You must have Pepco.... they SUCK, I would personally never move to their service area, have heard too many things on the news about those clowns. Hope you are all good now. Jim

No complaints here. Generators fried up 30 minutes after power was out
Hate to see damage to people's homes but I do tree work so this is about as profitable as the 30 inch snow storm we had 2 years ago. Last time this happened was back in 92. Chevy chase and Bethesda were destroyed. Power is still out in Brookeville. Thats BGE not pepco. |

You won't catch me defending Pepco anytime soon. Esp. since my power blinks out for no reason at times. Are we third world?
Anyway, I can not lay blame on them for the storm, but they do preside over a system that is far too susceptible to storms such as these. They haven't done much of anything to mitigate future issues, and I'd like to hear what the plan is going forward.

We lost power for one night. Rough storm but it was that bad down here compared to a few miles north of here.

Did some major damage around here. took a crane being used to build a bridge for the local highway and bent it right in half. The wind meter (whatever its called) on the crane read over 90 mph at the time of its collapse. Crazy stuff for sure.

My area of Woodbridge wasn't hit to bad, same with the building I work at on Belvoir, even though the other half of the base was down.
