Faster than a corvette ZR1?
So heres the deal,
Right now my car is in the shop having the L99 removed and being changed with a 418 LS3, with a 4in Stroke and 9.5 compression. Putting on a whipple 2.9L supercharger with RotoFab intake. Also taking out the 6 speed and putting in a much stronger 4 speed. When all is said and done my shop tells me it will be making close to 800RWHP. I know the ZR1 is more aerodynamic, but in a 1/4mile do you think it’s possible for my bulky SS to beat the super sporty ZR1? ------------------------------------ Thank you all so much for the info….. So what I gather is that I have the power to outdo a ZR1, but if I can’t hook up from a dig all that power is useless. Next question….. Does anyone have any suggestion for a suspension upgrade that will help me grab the road, OCCASIONALLY I will be taking it to the ZMAX to run the ¼ mile. With that in mind can anyone point me in the direction of what company or kits I should be looking at for suspension? Right now all I have is a decent set of tires on the rear. (315 nitto Invo)

800@ whls is about 900 @ crank so I wild say yes easily. Zr1 are 638 @ crank right? Sounds like a fun ride . What brand 4 spd are you using?

A stock ZR1 can run a low 11 1/4 mile. Assuming you have a suspension package that can plant the power you will be making you should have no problem doing that.

I don't think you will have any problems against a stock ZR1.
Tires are going to be the main factor however. With all that power I would assume you are going to be running some good tires on smaller rims right?

I havent done any suspension work yet, but i have forged lightweight rims wiht a NItto Invo 315 on the back..... dunno how much that will help though..... better then the stock 275 Prelli im sure.

Don't forget to put a cage in it, you will probably get the ban hammer at most tracks.

You should start looking into it. With that much power you are going to have a lot of wheel hop and traction issues if you do not beef up your rear arms and bushings.

If you're planning on racing (drag racing) with Invos at your power level, you've going to have issues. To hook up properly with that much RWHP and to run the times necessary to beat a ZR1, I would strongly suggest some drag radials on race day. |

You need extensive chassis modifications to maximize the potential of 800HP.
What stall speed are you trying to get with the convertor? |

Also remember,
every 100# is a tenth in the 1/4 mile.....weight is critical. |

ZR1 at 638 crank hp is about 5.1 lbs per hp
You at 800rwhp or 920 crank hp are at 4.35 lbs per hp So discounting the aero advantabe of the ZR1, you have the power, but you need to put it to the ground or you're wasting your time. Time for suspension upgrades and wheel/tire combo that will help you hook up. Not to mention the entire drive line minus the 4l80 of course. You will need low 10s against a driver with any savvy.

You gonna need the DSS 9" rear for sure. Plus some nitto NT05R TIres. Invo's are useless at that power. I have 628rwhp and 1st gear is useless.
