No More TPWs?

I was advised by my dealer that there are no more TPWs being issued by GM. Reason is that too many folks are confusing TPW with near-term delivery and GM is getting tired of the calls. My dealer is straight-up honest, and I believe that's what he has been told by GM and is accurately relaying it to me. He said it is straight from 3000 to 3800 now with no dealer updates in between.

My concern is that GM is actually prepping for bankruptcy, and this is the reason why TPWs aren't being issued. If the bankruptcy occurs, the factory could be shut down (al la Chrysler) and sit idle. It's anybody's guess on a car that is selling very well if the government would do that or not - or whether it would be forced to do that by taking into account the entire corporation and not just a single model line.

Anyway, I want to ask if people on the forum are hearing the same thing. My 2SS/RS was ordered on 4/1 and has been at 3000 for a few weeks (I know - short time compared to most ). Anyone else hearing "no more TPWs"? :upset:

I ordered an IBM 2LT, M6, RS and was at 3000 on 17 Mar. Dealer called last friday and faxed me a workbench order and I went to 3400. The salesman also said no more TPW's.

we have it on great authority (Fbodfather), that the Camaro line will not shut down regardless. so no worries there.

my dealer and i have been told about 2 weeks no TPW's and my workbench hasn't moved.....................time will tell!

What scares me is that that govt task force my be looking at things other than sales. Like the 400 HP engine. You just know some prius lover wants to kill the Camaro off.

Is someone like that one the govt auto team? Only time will tell....

There are some rumors also stirring that the govt team wants / has already axed the Challenger.

My salesman told me that GM wasn't giving out anymore TPWs and that some cars that showed 3000 in the ordering system would even show up delivered at the dealership. He called GM CS the next day to see if he could find out anything at all and they told him a tpw of 5/18 (he was given this tpw about 2 weeks ago).

So we'll see if I get a vin this week but i'm not going to hold my breath.

On 4/30 when my order went to 3000 my dealer gave me a TPW of 6/1. I went in today just to visit and the General Manager of the Dealership called the DBC (Dealer Business Center) to check my status and he put it on speaker phone. The lady he spoke to told him that Chevrolet is no longer giving out TPW's because they don't want to set up expectations for pre-orders. So...no TPW's are not being given out. My order was still at 3000. Who knows what's going on. I'm pretty sure things are going to get interesting in the next few weeks. I'm scared, somebody hold me!

Also, don't confuse TPW with updates on event codes. Your dealer can still provide you with those, once your order moves and the system updates. I think it is only very small pockets of orders that go from 3000 to 3800 without proper system updates.
