Best Battery for high powered audio system?
was thinking of changing the battery to something a little more resilient next year to better handle the upgrades I plan next spring, any suggestions on brand or type? Model numbers? running 710w single amp 10" sub and getting new speakers down the road.

You'll be fine on the stock battery. I'm running close to 1500 rms now with no problems, but if you really want a new battery get something reliable like a yellow top.

Optimas are horrible, quit using them years ago. Kinetik or we've been using a battery out of wheelchairs lately (if you plan on adding it as a secondary) and theyre cheap to. Theye a high amperage, high output battery. With that much wattage you really dont need another battery, even if you added a 4ch, you'd still be good on the stock battery. But if its time to change, you might as well upgrade.

We've had alot of issues with them. All warrantied issues, but issues none the less. Plus theyre not built for stereo upgrades. With the wattage JSHAF is running he should be fine, but if you get into anything 1500 watts and over the discharge/flow rate of an optima isnt enough to keep your amps fed. Theyre deep cycle and built for a slow discharge.

where do you get the kinetik? was thinking yellow top possibly. I have had my battery go dead twice last winter, going to try and tender it this winter and if it goes dead again I am replacing the damn thing, will keep kinetik in mind as well as yellow top. thanks guys!

Yellow top is good for deep cycle use like draining to a low voltage before recharge. Red top is better for high current where you use a lot of amperage but keep it charged all the time without draining the voltage. I bought a red top at Autozone i 2008. It went bat 3 years later + 10 days. Autozone replaced it no questions asked, even though warranty was expired.
I have around 2800 wats on my system and haven't had any issues. Not even dimming lights with it LOUD for an hour. You will be fine in the 700 watt range with the stock battery. I'm waiting untill I detect a problem with the stock battery, which is over 3 years old now and still working fine. Then i will probably go with Kinetik for the higher amperage. A big key is using the right size cable to supply power (and ground) to your amp. Too big is a lot better than too small. Too small creates resistance and heat that is not good for any part of the system including the power supply.
