I'm scared to drive my car.

I'm scared to drive my car.

Yesterday the gas pedal got stuck on a groove of my floor mat while flooring it in second gear. It wasn't necessarily the edge of the floor mat. It was one of the grooves in the design within the border of my goodyear mat. I quickly reached for the ignition and turned the engine off so hard, it ripped my key apart.

Today, I was at a red light in front of the traffic. I seen the light turn green and gassed it. I blinked and the light was red. I was in the far left lane and had to swerve to the right to make a right angle turn to be with the flow of the traffic. I was like whats going on with me. I saw the light turn green. It was like a dream.

Not sure if trolling....or serious....

BUT in any case....

The way you describe your driving...makes me feel you should not be driving on roads with people...or cars...or anything....just stop driving before you hurt yourself or someone!

If your pedal got stuck in your floor mats.. how big and tall are these floor maps WTF....REMOVE them ASAP...

Yeah I have never had my gas peddle get stuck on a floor mat. You should probably take those out and put the stock ones back in.

Are you using Toyota Floor mats?

Seriously the only time I have had a problem is using those universal cut to fit floor mats like wal-mart sells.

Remove the floormats and discard, immediately. A stock mat won't interfere with the gas pedal, nor will some of the OE-fitted aftermarket mats. Generic floor mats will f* you up.

I've had a gas pedal stick in other cars, but they were old and had various issues (like my '72 Blazer...it had 70's shag carpet, from a house...).

Best thing to do is shift to neutral. That way you don't risk locking the steering wheel or losing power accessories if you rip the key out.

Re: the stoplight....have you had your eyes checked? Do you know if you are/ are becoming color blind?

Easy fix, GET RID OF THE MATS and PAY ATTENTION when you are driving. It doesnt take much for a 2 ton piece of steel to do some serious damage!

You could probably sue the company who made the floor mats, with the way the current state of affairs in the U.S. are.

Also, I agree with the guy who said you shouldn't be allowed to drive on public roads.

I'm going to have to modify my floor mat so its not near my gas pedal.
I was so surprised with the red light green light mishap.
I called my wife right after it happened and said what's wrong with me and told her the story. Like the guy above, she said I needed some sleep. Too much work and not enough rest.

I'll have to disagree with the guy with the ugly rims.

I just need some rest, some coffee, and some different floor mats.
