Everyone's different..so it won't matter what other people got. Yours won't be the same.

Nobody ever wants to say. "It's personal."

OP, plan on the low $20k range if you are buying new.

The financial department at the dealership will work with you to get the payments inline with whatever you want. See if you qualify for Chevy's 1.9% APR for 60 mo., see the taxes and fees you'll have to pay, ask for multiple payment schedules based on varying down payments. They WANT to sell you a car, they will work with you - if not, someone else will.

I put zero down and pay $407 a month. 4.25% interest. For brand new, we paid MSRP of about 24,500 plus tax, title and license fees.

My advice-- play around with an auto loan calculator and see how it will play out under different scenarios.

My other piece of advice-- never let the dealership finance department "work it out" for you. You should get approved for your own financing and terms before you walk into a dealership and say, "sell me a car." Have your own financing in your back pocket, and chances are, they may be able to match it with their banks, or beat it. The goal is not to be dick-ish, so let them know up front that you've got financing lined up. You should know your credit score, and what you can get approved for, before going to buy a car. The finance person should be able to tell you what the competitive rates are through the most popular banks. If they can beat yours, take it.

Ok, reading my post, I didn't actually answer your question. Other advise --

Go on the chevrolet.com website, and price out your 2LS exactly how you want it. Use this MSRP figure in your calculations as a "worse case" scenario. Also read up on applicable rebates or financing incentives for your area.

Let's assume the MSRP comes out to be $24,500. I'd offer them $23k before any applicable rebates or incentives. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't...point is, cars are negotiable.... I don't know if Chevrolet's "confidence pricing" or whatever is in effect yet (basically a no-haggle figure).

When you hear people say things like "I got $5k off MSRP!" --it's usually because of rebates and dealer incentives (especially on trucks) and not because of some mystical negotiating powers. When there are no rebates and few incentives (Camaro is usually this way...it's a hot car), the amount off MSRP is usually less and especially with a lower trim level like a 2LS, there's not going to be as much negotiating room.
