MY old car finally hit the used lot.

They want 27,995 for it and somehow got 200 miles put on it since they got it 2 weeks ago. Good luck retards that car was only 30,000 new.

I'm with you. They have mine listed at $27,991. It was only $29,870 when I bought it brand new 3 years ago. Mine only had 6,400 miles.

You can't get it if you don't ask for it. Someone will go in and they'll "knock a couple grand off" and the buyer will think he beat them down. It's called marketing, and dealerships survive by doing it.

Agreed.............however I traded it in almost 3 months ago ($23,400). Doesn't appear to be working so far.

I tried to negotiate on multiple used cars. They would not go down more than like $600 off the price. Got a better deal on a new car.

Mr. Obvious....lol. If someone would have bought it off me the wheels wouldn't be so jacked up and it would have been stickerless.

But I couldn't offer easy credit. Someone asked me if I would sell it on payments once, a goof from craigslist. I told them it would take too long.

You guys don't understand car sales economics. You mark them up, knowing that customers will come in and dicker on the sticker price. Doing that allows you to lower your asking price, and that way the customer thinks he or she is getting a deal, when in all reality you are still making money above what you gave for trade-in value.

I think everyone here understands that. Fact is, the car is only worth $25K at best and they will never lower the price that much.

Does that matter, its like comparing box turtles to snapping turtles, they are still turtles. Turtles are slow.

Mind if I ask you what they gave you for that car on trade?

That number is irrelevant, all that really matters is out the door price, but I'll tell you the deal. On paper it looks like they gave me 23,600 in trade, but you decide.

I got a new 2012 that MSRP was 34,600 + tax/fees, but it was marked down already and they gave me a heritage grill installed to sweeten the deal. So that's what it would have cost if I ordered it. Could have gotten it for less with no trade I am quite sure, but that's the trade game.

They charged me $10,000 + tax/title and paperwork fees = $11,038.44 which I paid in exact change.

Not a smokin' deal, but didn't get my head ripped off either.

Fact is, in a majority of their trade ins the dealerships are putting a lot into the car and then don't have much negotiating room at the end.. At least out here in AZ
