Help needed selecting a Stall convertor

I am ready to install a Stall Convertor and looking for some help.. My build is in my garage but basically Maggie SC @ 530rwhp and somewhere over 500 on torque. Not sure @ what rpms max torque is @ either. I want a Stall Conv. that is very good on the street as this is a daily driver and will see very little track time.. Thinking 2800 or 3000 FTI, Vigilante, Yank etc...Will I need a re-tune...

When picking a converter...and it's stall speed I would honestly talk to your tuner and buy from them or what they direct you to get. So yes...retune. My guess here is 3-3200. Remember...it will drive different and shift different.

As mentioned above, I do suggest talking to your tuner and install shop for their preference. Tuning is a key characteristic of making the convertor work properly.

Convertor selection also has a lot to do with how you drive the car and your future plans. If you are planning for bigger power, a single disc convertor may not do the trick.

My preference has always been the 3200 Vigilante. It has good street manners and does the job at the track. However, if I had to drive in stop and go traffic everyday, it could get a bit annoying. If my commute has light traffic, it would be fine.

I do suggest for a daily driver with convertor to make sure you add a tranny cooler.

with a top mount SC where your making torque down low, a pretty tight 2800 will probably be the best match. If you want a FTI we have each custom built for your dyno sheet. On a NA I would go 3600.

A convertors stall rpm depends on a lot of factors. The same convertor will stall at different rpm in different cars. Weight, horsepower and gearing are the main factors. I'd talk to a convertor specialist like TCS, tell them everything you have (when I did my race car they even wanted my cam card) and they will get you the best convertor.
