Stock airbox is crap
Anyone actually look at this thing? It's got a small (and I mean small) inlet that's routed... to the headlight.
Seriously, it's rubbish. I'm pulling it out in 5 minutes, plan on gutting the bottom half (2hole mod from the ausies) and trying to find a K&N that will fit @ the parts store. Nothing is listed yet... but I'll make something work. Stock engine cover pops right off. Ordered some victory red, I'm painting the outside edges rather than the center -- but that's purely cosmetic. |

True, but I am master of the cheap mod
While aftermarket will have some nice solutions, at first they're going to be pricey.Looks like I can do the 2-hole style mod on that the VZ guys do on their cars w/o much trouble. Our airbox is a tad bit shallower... can't believe they're asking this thing to pull air in through a 4x5" rectangular opening LOL |

It's supposed to function and last it's not supposed to be built simply for cosmetics. That does not make it rubbish.
