About a year ago I put in the Livernois stage 2 Max cam with a .603 intake lift and a .618 exhaust lift 114 LSA. Livernois recommended dual valve springs and had a kit but they were very $$$ so I called COMP to see if they sold a set cheaper and what they recommended. I ended up getting a set of Beehive PN 26918-16 which has a max lift of .650". I have put about 8,000 miles on the car as well as supercharged it since then. It runs great, but at what point do I need to put a new set of valve springs in? The car only has 11,500 miles on it now and I do drive it pretty hard at times. I dont want to break a spring and drop a valve ( which I have literally had nightmares about ) and am looking for advice as well as if any one knows of a good kit

Im assuming you did not replace the retainers with Ti ones. The beehives do fine up to about were your at. What I would do is pull them off and check the pressures and if they are still good put Ti retainers on when you reinstall the 918s. If they dont check out then I would put some dual springs on.

Correct me of I'm wrong but aren't 918's good for .600 lift?
I would go with a dual spring for piece of mind and better "reliability" because you never know in this hobby but dual spring have saved my azz once. Comps 925 is a good one too IMHO.

The Brazilian race series simular to the Australian Super Car uses 918s in thier 416" engines with 24x/25x-.61x/.63x cams for what I understand for a full season but with Ti retainers.

its not that duals are necessary, its that they add extra reliability. personally i have broken a spring and was able to drive on the extra spring. i would never run single springs.

Agreed on the added insurance. Race teams can afford to throw another engine in but on the flip side of the coin they dont want to pull out of a race because of a valve spring issue.

Check seat pressure, thats the only way to tell if they need to be replaced. Titanium retainers are only to lighten the valve train.

Remember your don't want a .700 lift spring on a .625 lift cam. You want the spring to come close to coilbind do it can performe to its full potential. So if you get a .625 cam a .650 spring would be good but that's where a properly installed spring and measuring good comes in some even need a Lil shimming and you'll be set. Also it's the middle of August and of your a seasonal owner like me don't forget to loosen up your rockers and relieve the pressure on the springs when you put your car away.

What kind of springs do you have? Was it rated for your cam and how did you know you had a problem and to check the springs. Thanks
